About this role
Job Summary :
Tenaska is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and self-motivated individual to join its Digital Infrastructure team. The Digital Infrastructure Analyst/Associate will help identify, evaluate, develop, and commercialize energy and infrastructure solutions serving data centers, artificial intelligence, and other large-load customers.
The position will support opportunities involving powered land, electric interconnections, natural gas and power infrastructure, dedicated and behind-the-meter generation, battery energy storage, long-duration energy storage, and other technologies capable of accelerating customers' access to power. The successful candidate will help convert complex market, technical, commercial, and development information into actionable opportunities and clear recommendations for customers and senior management.
The role requires more than traditional analysis. The Digital Infrastructure Analyst/Associate will be expected to take ownership of assignments, work across functional teams, identify issues and potential solutions, and follow opportunities from initial screening through due diligence, commercial structuring, and project development. The successful candidate will be expected not only to analyze opportunities, but also to help advance them through research, due diligence, stakeholder coordination, process improvement, and execution.
Responsibilities will include evaluating powered land and energy infrastructure opportunities, preparing management and customer presentations, coordinating due diligence, supporting project economics and commercial evaluations, tracking agreements and development activities, and working with development, engineering, legal, finance, and external counterparties. The role will require the ability to develop credible initial assessments and recommendations quickly, including when information is incomplete and circumstances are changing.
Because Digital Infrastructure opportunities often span commercial, development, technical, regulatory, financial, and legal disciplines, the position requires coordination across multiple functions and the ability to synthesize diverse information into practical recommendations and actionable next steps.
The position will also help improve how the Digital Infrastructure team identifies and evaluates opportunities. The successful candidate should be intellectually curious and demonstrate the aptitude and willingness to learn and apply technology tools, including geographic information systems, artificial intelligence, databases, application programming interfaces, Python, and workflow automation. The objective is not simply to produce analysis, but to help the team make informed decisions more quickly, communicate opportunities effectively, and advance projects in a fast-moving and highly competitive market.
To be successful in this role, a candidate must demonstrate sound judgment, attention to detail, a strong sense of urgency, and the ability to operate effectively in challenging environments with changing priorities and steep learning curves. The position may require domestic travel for customer meetings, project evaluations, site visits, due diligence activities, and industry events.
Essential Job Functions :
- Support the origination, screening, evaluation, development, and commercialization of Digital Infrastructure opportunities, including powered land, electric interconnections, generation supply solutions, battery energy storage, long-duration energy storage, and related energy infrastructure.
- Perform technical, commercial, financial, market, and development analyses to evaluate opportunities and identify key risks, constraints, value drivers, potential solutions, and recommended next steps.
- Develop credible initial assessments of site suitability, power availability, interconnection pathways, generation alternatives, infrastructure requirements, development schedules, costs, and other factors affecting project viability.
- Coordinate project due diligence activities across development, engineering, legal, finance, environmental, commercial, and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain development plans, project schedules, budgets, due diligence trackers, agreement summaries, and other materials necessary to advance opportunities from initial evaluation through project execution.
- Develop commercial evaluations, opportunity assessments, financial models, economic analyses, pitch decks, deal sheets, management approval materials, and customer-facing content to support decision-making, business development, and project commercialization.
- Gather, analyze, and synthesize technical, commercial, regulatory, market, customer, and industry information from multiple sources and translate findings into actionable recommendations for management and project teams.
- Monitor developments relevant to data centers, artificial intelligence, power markets, electric utilities, generation, transmission, natural gas infrastructure, energy storage, equipment availability, and competing projects, and assess implications for Tenaska's Digital Infrastructure strategy and opportunities.
- Support the preparation, evaluation, administration, and tracking of commercial agreements, including nondisclosure agreements, term sheets, letters of intent, development agreements, and other transaction documents.
- Use GIS, artificial intelligence, databases, APIs, Python, and other analytical or automation tools, as appropriate, to enhance opportunity screening, due diligence, workflow efficiency, and decision-making.
- Collaborate with customers, utilities, developers, engineers, consultants, equipment suppliers, landowners, legal counsel, and other stakeholders to advance projects and commercial opportunities.
- Communicate project status, analytical findings, material risks, unresolved issues, recommended actions, and next steps to senior management and other stakeholders through written reports, presentations, and direct engagement.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, Economics, Data Science, Geographic Information Systems, or a related field.
- Two or more years of relevant experience in energy, infrastructure, project development, engineering, finance, consulting, investment banking, market analysis, data analytics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and business decision-making skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and persuasive presentations, reports, and recommendations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex information, identify material issues, and communicate practical conclusions and recommended actions.
- Ability to develop credible initial assessments and recommendations quickly, including when working with incomplete information.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under periodic short deadlines, and operate effectively with limited guidance.
- Strong interest in the energy and digital infrastructure industries, including data centers, generation, transmission, energy storage, and large-load development.
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to learn and utilize emerging technology tools, including artificial intelligence applications and automation workflows, to improve research, analysis, communication, and decision-making.
- Demonstrated aptitude and willingness to learn and use technology tools, including GIS platforms, databases, APIs, analytical software, and workflow automation.
- High level of initiative, ownership, responsiveness, attention to detail, and follow-through.
Preferred Requirements
- Three to five years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience supporting project development, business development, transaction execution, or infrastructure project evaluation.
- Experience in energy project development, power markets, electric utilities, generation, transmission, interconnection, natural gas infrastructure, data centers, real estate development, or other infrastructure sectors.
- Experience preparing project-development plans, opportunity assessments, economic models, commercial analyses, management presentations, investment materials, or customer proposals.
- Familiarity with powered land development, site screening, electric-service evaluation, utility processes, generation alternatives, or interconnection opportunities.
- Familiarity with project finance, valuation, commercial agreements, transaction due diligence, and project-development processes.
- Experience working with internal and external professionals, including developers, engineers, legal counsel, financial professionals, consultants, utilities, customers, and other commercial counterparties.
- Competency in one or more of the following:
- Geographic information systems, including QGIS or similar platforms
- Python or other programming and automation tools
- SQL, databases, or large datasets
- Application programming interfaces and automated data retrieval
- Power-market, electric-system, or infrastructure-data platforms
- Ability to develop new analytical tools and repeatable workflows rather than relying exclusively on existing templates and processes.
- Ability to independently research unfamiliar topics, develop working knowledge quickly, and apply that knowledge to active business opportunities.
- Ability to navigate complex environments, incomplete information, changing priorities, and evolving commercial strategies.
- Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive company, customer, and transaction information.
