- Own and maintain the final layout breakdown list, ensuring that it is accurate and that naming conventions are consistent and pipeline‑compliant
- Ensure that all Final Layout outputs meet high standards of quality by reviewing and providing feedback on the team’s work and QC‑ing the output from the Final Layout team
- Collaborate with team members to address creative or technical challenges in final layout, ensuring solutions align with the film’s goals and support downstream departments
- Work closely with the Head of Cinematography, Layout, filmmakers, and other departments to ensure alignment and cohesion across all stages of the filmmaking process
- Effectively communicate work statuses and deadlines to Production and the HOCL, flagging risks early and collaborating on mitigation strategies
- Facilitate communication and collaboration within the Final Layout team and with other departments, ensuring that the department’s work supports overall production objectives
- Mentor and support team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment that encourages excellence and continuous improvement
- Provide guidance and support to artists, helping them develop their skills and achieve their full potential, and communicate if performance expectations are not being met
- Identify opportunities to optimize workflows and processes within final layout to enhance efficiency and consistency
- Ensure that processes and decisions within final layout are well documented, providing clarity and consistency across the department
- Contribute to strategic planning discussions for the Layout Department, aligning with studio goals and future directions

What You’ll Need:

- Significant experience in layout, final layout, previs, or closely related roles in feature animation, VFX, or high‑end series, including prior leadership or lead experience
- A strong reel demonstrating excellence in camera work, set dressing, staging, composition, and sequence continuity
- Strong understanding of cinematography and how camera, staging, and editing support visual storytelling in animation
- Proficiency with layout and camera tools such as Maya (experience with Houdini, Unreal, or other previs/layout tools is a plus)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide concise and honest constructive feedback and to listen and be open to feedback in return
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, supporting cross‑departmental relationships and goals
- Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage complex sequences and competing priorities
- A mindset of ownership, openness to new workflows and toolsets, and the desire to continuously improve and help inspire those around you
