The IAM Director will lead the organization’s IAM strategy, governance, and execution across identity lifecycle, access controls, authentication (SSO/MFA), access certifications, and audit reporting. The role establishes cross-functional ownership with HR, IT, security, legal/compliance, and business/data owners through an IAM governance committee and RACI model, ensuring IAM operates as a shared business control. The IAM Director defines IAM policies/standards and drives automation, repeatable integration patterns, and measurable improvements in least privilege, SoD alignment, monitoring and audit readiness

- Responsibilities
IAM strategy, policy and governance: Define and own IAM vision, roadmap, principles and standards (e.g., least privilege, SoD, strong authentication, lifecycle management).
- Identity lifecycle (joiner/mover/leaver): Ensure effective provisioning/deprovisioning processes and automation (especially via HR-driven triggers) to reduce orphaned accounts and manual error.
- Oversee role/group management and entitlement lifecycle management.
- Authentication and access controls: Oversee SSO/federation, MFA/adaptive authentication and directory/identity store strategy (e.g., on-prem and cloud identity stores).
- Drive RBAC/ABAC improvements and role engineering to mature access assignment and reduce overprovisioning.
- Governance, certifications and audit support: Coordinate periodic access reviews/certifications and ensure evidence/reporting supports audit and compliance needs.
- Ensure identity monitoring, logging and reporting requirements are met for investigations and control validation.
- Privileged and non-human identity oversight: Oversee privileged accounts (break-glass, admin accounts) and service/non-human identities as part of the IAM control framework.
- Tooling, architecture and delivery: Provide IAM architecture direction, including patterns/reference architectures and repeatable integration approaches for applications.
- Evaluate and administer IAM/IGA capabilities and ensure platforms are securely configured and updated in alignment with policy.
- Operating model and cross-functional execution: Clarify shared responsibilities between IT and security (e.g., IT runs underlying infrastructure operations while security defines access policy/compliance requirements).
- Define success measures/KPIs for IAM outcomes (security, employee experience, automation, audit performance).
