About this role

Job Description and Requirements

We Are

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You have spent years in the middle of it all, the manager who needs to know if they can change someone's title before the comp cycle closes, the employee who just got an offer from another division, the reorg that needs to happen quietly and correctly. You know that most People work is not about rolling out programs, it is about making sure the details do not break when they hit real humans and real situations.

You are the person managers call when they are not sure what to do. Not because you have all the answers memorized, but because you know how to find them, apply judgment, and explain the path forward in a way that does not create more confusion. You have learned that tone matters as much as policy, and that a well-timed conversation can prevent three escalations downstream.

You do not need perfect systems to do good work. You work inside Workday, track things in spreadsheets when you have to, and know when something needs Legal and when it just needs common sense. You care about getting it right, not just getting it done. At Synopsys, you will support real business groups with real complexity, and the work you do will directly shape how employees and managers experience the most important moments in their tenure here.

What You'll Be Doing

- Serve as the go-to advisor for managers and employees across your assigned business groups on People policies, workplace situations, and the gray areas where policy meets reality
- Manage complex employee cases and Tier-3 escalations, applying judgment and discretion while keeping things consistent and compliant
- Execute core People cycles including performance reviews, compensation planning, talent calibrations, and workforce changes from start to finish
- Coordinate employee lifecycle transactions like internal transfers, promotions, reorganizations, job changes, and offboarding with accuracy and care
- Partner with People Partners, Legal, Shared Services, Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Immigration, and other Centers of Excellence to untangle issues and deliver solutions that work
- Support sensitive change initiatives by validating data, documenting decisions, enabling managers, drafting employee communications, and ensuring compliant execution
- Review workforce and organizational data to spot trends, catch discrepancies, and surface insights that help business leaders make better talent decisions

###

The Impact You Will Have

- Managers across your business groups make better, faster decisions because you helped them understand what is possible and what is not
- Complex employee situations get resolved with fairness and consistency because you brought sound judgment and the right stakeholders to the table
- People cycles run smoothly because you coordinated the details, flagged the risks, and kept everyone on track
- Sensitive transitions like reorgs and workforce changes happen with less disruption because you ensured the data was right, the process was tight, and the communications were clear
- Employee experience improves because you identified the friction points in processes and fixed them before they became bigger problems
- Cross-functional projects move forward because you kept stakeholders aligned, milestones visible, and execution on schedule
- The People team operates more effectively because you documented what works, standardized what was inconsistent, and escalated what needed attention

###

What You'll Need

- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years in HR generalist, employee relations, or People operations roles, or an advanced degree and a minimum of 3 years of related experience
- Deep working knowledge of HR policies, employment law basics, and how to apply them in real situations without creating more risk
- Experience managing complex employee cases, Tier-3 escalations, and sensitive workplace situations with discretion and sound judgment
- Hands-on experience executing People programs like performance cycles, compensation planning, workforce changes, or organizational transitions
- Comfort working in HRIS systems like Workday to process transactions, pull data, validate accuracy, and troubleshoot issues
- Strong analytical skills to review workforce data, identify trends or gaps, and translate what you find into actionable insights. Expertise in the Microsoft suite of tools required and experience with Success Factors, Visier, Betterworks, and PAVE platforms is a plus
- Experience partnering with Legal, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, or other Centers of Excellence

###

Who You Are

- You can take a messy situation with incomplete information and figure out the right next step without waiting for someone to tell you what to do
- You explain policy in plain language, not HR speak, and managers walk away from conversations with you knowing exactly what they need to do next
- You stay calm when a case gets escalated, a reorg timeline moves up, or someone is upset, and you focus on solving the problem in front of you
- You know when to handle something yourself and when to pull in Legal, Compensation, or a People Partner, and you do it early enough to matter
- You keep track of a lot of moving pieces at once without dropping details, missing deadlines, or losing sight of what is confidential
- You care about making processes better, not just getting through them, and you speak up when something is broken or inconsistent
