About this role

Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

Location:  Woodland, CA

Position Type: Full-Time / Industrial Manufacturing & Automation

Pay Rate: $32.00 - $40.00 /hour (DOE)

Job Overview

PrideStaff has partnered with an industry-leading manufacturer specializing in high-performance non-metallic conduit, ducting, and fitting systems. We are seeking a skilled and versatile Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to join a dynamic industrial maintenance and engineering team.

In this role, you will play a critical hands-on part in keeping high-speed PVC/HDPE extrusion machinery, belling equipment, socketing machines, automated bundlers, and material blending systems operating at peak performance. Responsibilities include mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, component repairs, steel fabrication/welding, and routine preventative maintenance across specialized conduit and fitting manufacturing lines.

If you are a self-starter with strong electro-mechanical aptitude, welding expertise, and a commitment to keeping high-volume duct and conduit production running safely and efficiently, this is an outstanding career opportunity!

Key Responsibilities

1. Specialized Machinery Maintenance & Assembly

Perform precise mechanical and electrical assembly, modifications, and repairs on high-volume PVC/plastic extrusion lines, belling and socketing machines, elbow bending equipment, pullers, and automated bundle-strapping machinery.

Conduct daily inspections of extrusion dies, calibration tables, print/marking units, cutting equipment, and automation controls to ensure optimal operational performance and precise product dimensions.

Execute routine preventative maintenance (PMs), including greasing bearings, shafts, gearboxes, vacuum systems, and compressed air systems across conduit manufacturing lines.

2. Fabrication & Electrical Troubleshooting

Execute steel welding, torch cutting, and basic fabrication tasks to repair, reinforce, or modify plant machinery, material hoppers, and safety guarding.

Troubleshoot complex pneumatic, hydraulic, heating, and electrical automation systems using schematics, wiring diagrams, and ladder logic reading skills.

3. Material Handling & Cross-Functional Support

Inspect and service resin conveyancing, bulk vacuum feed systems, and resin/compound blending equipment used in pipe, duct, and molding manufacturing.

Perform physical plant duties including opening railcar lids, collecting raw resin/PVC compound samples, and supporting bulk raw material unloading operations.

Support cross-functional operational needs across departments and travel between regional manufacturing facility locations as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience:

Education: Associate degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology, Industrial Systems Technology, or a related field preferred.

Industrial Maintenance: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in industrial electro-mechanical maintenance (experience in plastics extrusion, continuous pipe/conduit extrusion, or injection molding is strongly preferred).

Welding: 3–5 years of experience in steel welding, cutting, and structural repair.

Technical Knowledge: Sound knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical automation systems, along with the ability to read electrical/pneumatic schematics.

Computer & Language Skills: Fluent in English (Spanish bilingual skills are a plus); basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and computerized maintenance management software (CMMS).

Preferred / Plus Factors:

3–5 years of experience with PLC troubleshooting and ladder logic programming.

Hands-on exposure to Allen-Bradley PLC systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and HMI interfaces.

Experience with PVC/HDPE extrusion processing, belling/socketing equipment, resin blending practices, and bulk handling systems.

Soft Skills & Travel:

High degree of teamwork, strong problem-solving skills, and a self-starter mindset.

Willingness and ability to travel between regional plant sites as needed.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Safety Commitment: Strict compliance with all plant safety rules, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, Arc Flash guidelines, and proper use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Environment: Indoor manufacturing floor and outdoor raw material yard environments exposed to varying weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, dust, resin particles, and heavy industrial noise).

Work Schedule: Flexibility to work varying shifts as needed (early mornings, late nights, weekends, or holidays) and participate in on-call maintenance support.

Physical Requirements: Heavy physical labor, including frequent climbing, standing, bending, entering tight space areas, opening railcars, collecting resin samples, and lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally (20 lbs. frequently, 10 lbs. constantly).

Communication & Physical Health: Ability to communicate clearly via two-way phone/radio, hear safety alarms around heavy machinery, and pass a physical exam if required.
