About this role
Description
Are you ready to lead a high-performing team that delivers for millions of customers? Amazon is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to take on a critical leadership role within our fulfillment network. In this position, you will oversee department-level operations, driving results across safety, quality, and productivity while developing the next generation of leaders. You will use data and analytical thinking to solve complex problems, optimize processes, and ensure that every package reaches customers on time. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are energized by the opportunity to coach teams, improve systems, and deliver meaningful impact at scale, this role is for you.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of frontline managers and hourly associates, creating a culture of continuous feedback, recognition, and professional growth across all shifts.
- Drive operational excellence by monitoring critical KPIs, analyzing performance data, and implementing productivity plans through forecast reviews and cross-functional load balancing.
- Champion safety as the top priority by modeling safe behaviors, conducting regular gemba walks, integrating safety into daily planning, and holding leaders accountable for safety improvements.
- Collaborate with support teams including Safety, Human Resources, Engineering, and Quality Assurance to align departmental goals with broader site objectives and resolve systemic issues.
- Identify and implement process improvements by analyzing root causes, evaluating cross-functional impacts, and building scalable solutions that balance immediate operational needs with long-term performance.
A day in the life
Your day begins with a safety-focused stand-up where you align your frontline leaders on shift priorities, review overnight metrics, and address any emerging issues. From there, you move to the floor for gemba walks, coaching managers in real time and engaging directly with associates. You spend time analyzing operational data, adjusting staffing plans, and partnering with peer managers and support teams to remove bottlenecks. Whether you are leading a performance review, piloting a process improvement, or preparing your team for peak volume, you are constantly balancing tactical execution with strategic thinking.
