About this role

The Project:

The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance.

The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.

The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031. The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The T2D Alliance is committed to providing opportunities for local people, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees and job seekers who are long-term unemployed and offers people an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project

The Opportunity

As the T2D Project progresses across multiple construction work fronts, we are building a network of experienced safety professionals who can support the safe delivery of complex infrastructure works and help maintain a strong, proactive safety culture.

Our construction environment includes major tunnelling operations, underground motorway construction, heavy civil works, bridges and structures, precast concrete production, plant and equipment operations, and mechanical and electrical installation activities. These environments require safety professionals who understand construction methodologies, can identify and manage critical risks, and can work effectively alongside project managers, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and frontline workers.

Potential opportunities may include:

- Safety Advisors – providing hands-on safety advice, conducting site inspections, reviewing SWMS and risk assessments, and supporting construction teams across active work fronts.

- Safety Coordinators – coordinating safety activities, inspections, reporting, documentation, compliance requirements and the close-out of corrective actions.

- Senior Safety Advisors – providing senior-level safety guidance, influencing construction leadership, managing complex risk issues and driving improvements in safety performance.

- Construction and Civil Infrastructure Safety Specialists – supporting road construction, earthworks, utilities, bridges, structures, lifting operations, mobile plant and other high-risk civil activities.

- Tunnelling and Underground Construction Safety Specialists – bringing experience in underground works, tunnel excavation, confined spaces, ventilation, emergency preparedness and the management of complex construction interfaces.

- Safety Systems, Risk and Assurance Specialists – supporting safety management systems, critical risk verification, audits, incident investigations, compliance and continuous improvement.

What we are looking for

We welcome interest from professionals who have demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:

- Major road, motorway and transport infrastructure projects.

- Tunnel construction, underground works and complex civil construction.

- Bridges, structures, earthworks, drainage and utilities installation.

- Precast concrete manufacturing, production facilities and heavy materials handling.

- Mechanical and electrical construction, plant installation, testing and commissioning.

- High-risk construction activities, including lifting operations, excavations, working at heights, temporary works, mobile plant and equipment, and confined spaces.

- Construction risk assessments, SWMS reviews, permit-to-work systems, isolations and critical control verification.

- Incident investigation, root cause analysis, safety audits and assurance activities.

- Frontline workforce engagement, subcontractor management and safety leadership across large, multidisciplinary project teams.

Candidates should have relevant WHS qualifications and a sound understanding of applicable legislation, construction safety standards and risk management principles.
