About this role

Description

Central Operations (Ops) JP is looking for a Program Manager with a strong record of achieving results, to execute and scale the Cost Out framework for the Central Operations Standardization and Cost Out (COSC) team. The COSC team is dedicated to driving operational excellence across Central Operations by establishing robust mechanisms, delivering data-driven insights, and accelerating high-impact programs.

You will execute the Cost Out framework that turns CO's program impact into registered, auditable dollar value in partnership with Finance. You will help close this gap by driving entitlement calculation standardization, partnering directly with Finance counterparts for regular reviews, and enabling 50+ program managers to self-adopt entitlement practices through toolkits and guidance.

You will work cross-functionally with stakeholders across CO functions and Finance to understand, implement, and improve cost-out programs and financial governance. This role offers the opportunity to partner closely with multiple functions and teams including program management, finance, delivery station operations, last mile tech, planning, ACES, and more in Amazon Logistics (AMZL). Such exposure and collaboration with a variety of teams allow opportunities for further career growth within Amazon and beyond.

You will actively solve problems ranging from immediate challenges to long-term programs. You will manage multiple workstreams, own schedules, outline key milestones, and ensure deliverables are met. The work balances between working independently and influencing other stakeholders to drive alignment and execution.

At Amazon, you'll work alongside the latest AI and GenAI tools that are increasingly woven into how teams operate: from AI-powered capabilities that accelerate decision-making, to Generative AI that helps you focus on work that truly matters. You'll have opportunities and resources to develop AI fluency at your own pace, with continuous learning built into the culture.

Key job responsibilities
- Execute the entitlement framework inside CO covering three phases of each initiation: entitlement calculation standardization, commitment (Finance and ACES sign-off), and measure & report (actual vs. planned tracking with PVA monitoring)
- Partner directly with Finance counterparts: prepare and drive bi-weekly review sessions to centralize new/ad-hoc entitlement topics, avoiding siloed communication between CO functions and Finance
- Develop, launch, and maintain the entitlement calculation toolkit that enables program managers to self-adopt — translating program metrics to DPH/TPPH and then to dollar value based on Finance guidelines
- Support entitlement calculation standardization across CO, coaching functional PMs on consistent methodology and addressing gaps where different PMs use different logic
- Own post-launch tracking of entitlement, ensuring realized cost savings are monitored against planned values and lessons learned are captured as a knowledge pool
- Drive the registration of CO's cost savings in financial reports by preparing documentation, coordinating with Finance for validation, and maintaining accurate records
- Support OP-level entitlement reviews during OP finalization phases, ensuring all program entitlements are documented and validated with Finance
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks in cost-out workstreams; escalate critical issues proactively and propose corrective actions to keep initiatives on track
- Recommend data-driven solutions, lead pilot tests to assess program impact, and expand refined SOPs to operational teams

A day in the life
You prepare the agenda and materials for the bi-weekly Finance review meeting, consolidating new and ad-hoc entitlement topics from across CO's functions. You partner with a functional PM to walk through their program's entitlement calculation, coaching them on how to translate their routing improvement metrics into dollar value using the standardized framework. You deep-dive into a post-launch PVA gap, investigating why a program's realized savings differ from the planned entitlement and documenting the lesson learned in the knowledge pool. You update the entitlement tracking dashboard to ensure leadership has accurate visibility into registered vs. unregistered cost savings. You coordinate with ACES and Finance during OP finalization to ensure all program entitlements are reviewed and documented. You will continuously find new problems to solve and be required to partner with teams across Japan and the globe to deliver for our customers. You take business trips within and outside Japan on a need basis to build your skills, network, and to gain insights from other regions and bring and export best practices to and from Japan.
