About this role

Job Description:

Are you ready to launch your career and make an impact on real-world projects from day one?

At Leonardo UK Helicopter Division, we’re looking for Aerospace Mechanical Engineering graduates who want to be part of something bigger—shaping innovation, advancing technology, and enhancing global safety.

We are committed to developing our graduates into leading technical or business professionals, and as such we will also support you through your preferred route for professional development.

Our 2 year Graduate Programmes give you the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects alongside subject matter experts.

On joining, you will receive a competitive starting salary, plus a £1,000 welcome bonus. You’ll also be eligible for a £1,000 exit bonus upon successful completion of the programme. In addition, you may be eligible for a Temporary

Accommodation Allowance (TAA), subject to specific criteria.

We encourage you to spend at least four days each week on site to integrate with your team and maximise your learning experience.

During the programme, you will:

Start with an Induction into Leonardo, followed by team building activities. There will also be an Engineering specific induction to ensure that scheme requirements and expectations are fully established.

In conjunction with the Engineering Management Team and the Early Careers Team, you will have the opportunity to input into the design of your training scheme to include placements which give an insight into the complete Helicopter Product Life Cycle.

Rotate on a 3-6 month basis across the Engineering department with the opportunity to do an external placement elsewhere in the business, allowing you to build on your technical knowledge and also develop soft skills, through opportunities which a direct entry position may not be able to offer.

Working with world-leading specialists, you will increase your technical skills and capability, and develop your academic and practical understanding of the diverse world that is manufacturing & supply chain.

As an Aerospace Mechanical Engineering Graduate, you will …

- Develop and integrate engineering solutions from given broader design concepts and schemes. Gather and collate relevant technical and commercial information, as directed, to potentially aid/influence design and technical solutions
- Perform defined simulation, modelling, testing and assessment activities to ensure that the engineering solution meets customer requirements
- Assist with the creation of test plans and participate in sub system and system testing, using defined test procedures, to support the design, development and qualification process
- Assist with the development of new technologies, methods, and procedures for business benefit
- Produce standard engineering documents, reports and qualification statements within agreed formats for work undertaken
- Investigate assigned customer and product issues to produce a recommendation for their resolution
- Perform assessment activities to ensure that the engineering solution meets customer requirements

Security Clearance

At Leonardo, many of our roles are subject to security and export control restrictions set by UK Government Security requirements and customer obligations.  As a result, and in line with the UK Government Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) requirements, all successful applicants will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK, criminal record declaration information and employment and/or education history verification for the previous five years.

For staff operating in more sensitive posts, there is an additional range of personnel security controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV).  As part of this process, a range of factors may be considered, including an individual's background, travel history, nationality, previous nationalities held and other information relevant to the vetting assessment.

To be eligible for National Security Vetting at SC level, applicants will generally be expected to have continuously resided in the UK for the previous five years. For DV clearance, this is typically ten years.  In some circumstances, time spent overseas may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.  Additional vetting requirements may apply upon appointment.
