Job Details:

## Job Description:
Position Overview:
As a Platform Hardware Design Engineer, you will contribute to the end-to-end development of advanced platform hardware, translating platform level requirements into circuit and component level specifications and ultimately into high quality board designs.
You will work across the hardware development lifecycle, including architecture and requirements definition, component selection, schematic design, PCB implementation, design reviews, board fabrication and assembly support, power-on, bring-up, debug, validation, and delivery.
This is a hands-on engineering role for candidates who enjoy solving complex hardware problems and working across disciplines to turn system requirements into reliable, manufacturable hardware.

Our Business Group
You will be joining the Silicon and Platform Engineering Group (SPE), an organization at Intel committed to advancing Intel's mission of delivering world class silicon and platform solutions. The group focuses on developing integrated systems that align with customer needs and support Intel's broader goals of leadership in technology innovation. SPE collaborates across diverse domains to ensure Intel platforms meet performance, reliability, and scalability requirements.
Our work sits at the intersection of silicon, board hardware, firmware, validation, signal and power integrity, mechanical and thermal engineering, PCB technology, manufacturing, and system integration.
Our hardware engineers have a broader responsibility than executing an individual design. They help establish platform architecture, guide implementation, identify and qualify appropriate hardware solutions, provide technical leadership during board power-on and debug, and lead resolution of schematic, layout, SI/PI, and hardware issues.

Key Responsibilities
Platform and Board Design
• Translate platform level requirements into circuit level, component level, and PCB design requirements.
• Design and develop complex platform boards incorporating high speed digital, analog and mixed-signal circuitry considering board/system-level design tradeoffs during development.
• Own schematic development for assigned boards, subsystems, and functional blocks, including component definition and selection.
• Develop electrical solutions associated with processors/SoCs, FPGAs, memory, high-speed interfaces, voltage regulators, clocks, resets, control interfaces, and platform-management functions.

PCB Design and Implementation
• Define PCB implementation requirements, including component placement, critical interfaces, routing rules, stack-up considerations, and other layout constraints.
• Work closely with PCB layout engineers and guide board implementation from feasibility through design release/tape-out while meeting multidisciplinary platform requirements.
• Review complex multilayer PCB designs for electrical performance, signal integrity, power integrity, manufacturability, and system requirements.
• Apply high speed transmission-line and layout principles to critical interfaces.

Power, Signal Integrity and Platform Considerations
• Apply signal integrity and power integrity principles during board architecture, schematic design, component selection, and PCB implementation.
• Design and review power delivery architectures, voltage regulation, sequencing, power budgeting, and platform power distribution.
• Work with SI/PI specialists to analyze critical high speed interfaces and power delivery networks and incorporate analysis results into board design.
• Understand platform level trade-offs involving electrical performance, power, thermal constraints, PCB implementation, component availability, and manufacturability.

Board Bring-up, Validation and Debug
• Develop and execute board power-on, bring-up, validation, and characterization plans.
• Collaborate with architects, hardware engineers, validation engineers, firmware engineers, technicians, and other specialists during platform power-on and debug.
• Troubleshoot board and system level problems and perform systematic root cause analysis.
• Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, logic analyzers, and other measurement equipment for electrical characterization and debug. Analyze failures, determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and drive issues to technical closure.

Cross-functional Execution
• Collaborate with silicon, firmware, validation, SI/PI, mechanical, thermal, PCB layout, manufacturing, supplier, and program teams.
• Incorporate feedback from verification, validation, manufacturing, and other stakeholders into hardware development and design improvements.
• Support PCB fabrication, assembly, design-for-manufacturability, design-for-test, and hardware readiness.
• Create and maintain design specifications, schematics, review documentation, design checklists, bring-up plans, validation reports, and other technical collateral.
• Own assigned hardware deliverables and proactively identify technical, component, manufacturing, and schedule risks.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 6+ years relevant hands-on industry experience in platform hardware, boar -level product development, PCB design, or related hardware engineering.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with PCB design, schematic capture, component definition/selection, and interaction with PCB layout teams.
• Strong fundamentals in digital and analog board design, electrical interfaces, mixed-signal design, and platform power-on.
• Experience with high density, multilayer board design and high speed PCB implementation.
• Understanding of high speed interfaces, transmission line fundamentals, signal integrity, and power integrity.
• Knowledge of voltage regulation, power delivery, clocking, resets, and sequencing.
• Experience with industry standard schematic capture and PCB design/review tools like Cadence environments including Allegro and Concept HDL alongside other industry-standard design environments.
• Hands-on experience with board power-on, bring-up, electrical measurement, hardware debugging, and root-cause analysis.
• Strong problem solving, communication, technical documentation, and cross functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience designing complex compute, server, client, validation, FPGA based, or semiconductor development platforms.
• Experience with high speed I/O and memory interfaces such as PCIe, DDR/LPDDR, USB, Ethernet, or comparable technologies.
• Working knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, transmission line theory, impedance control, crosstalk, PCB stack-up, and power distribution networks.
• Experience with SI/PI, circuit, or power simulation tools.
• Experience with board-level power delivery, basic Verilog coding, power budgeting, voltage regulation, sequencing, and power integrity.
• Knowledge of PCB fabrication, board assembly, DFM/DFT, manufacturing flows, and component/BOM management.
• Experience taking hardware through multiple stages of the lifecycle from design through PCB implementation, fabrication, assembly, bring-up, validation, and deployment.
• Working experience in integrating the AI-based tools and agents in regular workflow
• Familiarity with scripting or automation, such as Python, for hardware development, validation, or debug is an added advantage.
• Experience working effectively with geographically distributed engineering teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
