About this role

As SCADA Requirements Engineer (m/f/d) you will act as the interface between engineering, SCADA operations, service teams and software development. Your primary responsibility is to understand operational and technical requirements, translate them into clear functional specifications and ensure their successful implementation within our SCADA and IIoT landscape.

Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, you will help shape the future development of our wind farm monitoring and control systems. You combine strong technical understanding with structured requirements engineering and are able to bridge the gap between business needs and software implementation. In addition, you will analyze technical issues, support product improvements and contribute to the continuous evolution of our SCADA platforms.

YOUR TASKS

- Gather, analyze and structure business, operational and technical requirements from internal stakeholders across Engineering, SCADA Operations, Service and Product teams.

- Translate complex stakeholder requirements into clear, complete and implementable functional specifications for software development teams, ensuring traceability throughout the engineering lifecycle.

- Act as the technical interface between business functions and development teams, facilitating discussions, clarifying requirements and driving alignment across multiple stakeholders.

- Support the further development and standardization of Nordex’s SCADA and IIoT solutions, including platforms such as Nordex OS, NC2 SCADA, WinCC and related interfaces such as SIFT.

- Analyze technical incidents, product issues and field feedback from operating wind farms, identify root causes where possible and create well-defined development tickets for implementation.

- Review, validate and continuously improve technical specifications together with engineering, software development and operational teams to ensure high-quality and maintainable solutions.

- Coordinate technical activities, priorities and dependencies across multiple SCADA-related initiatives while supporting project planning and implementation.

- Identify technical risks, assess impacts on existing systems and contribute to mitigation strategies throughout the product lifecycle.

- Ensure consistent documentation of requirements, specifications, design decisions and acceptance criteria using established engineering processes and tools.

YOUR PROFILE

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation Engineering, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering or a comparable technical discipline.

- Several years of professional experience in Requirements Engineering, Systems Engineering, Product Ownership, Technical Project Management or a comparable interface role within a software or industrial environment.

- Strong understanding of SCADA systems, ideally within the wind energy industry or a comparable industrial automation environment.

- Ability to understand technical software concepts and communicate effectively with development teams while translating business needs into functional specifications.

- Experience working with software development processes, technical documentation and requirement traceability.

- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus and basic SQL is highly desirable.

- Good understanding of Linux and Windows environments as well as basic database concepts.

- Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps or Siemens Teamcenter is considered an advantage.

- Additional knowledge in Python, data analytics, Agile methodologies, IT/OT architectures, industrial cybersecurity or Wind Farm Management (WfM) is beneficial.

- Fluent English is required; German or Spanish skills are an advantage.
