About this role
🧬 About Sano
Mission: what we do
The patients in the programmes we support often have no approved treatment and no alternatives in clinical development. Getting the right patient into the right trial, at the right moment, is sometimes the only shot they have. We don't say this to add pressure: we say it because it's true, and because the people who do their best work here are the ones who feel that weight and let it sharpen their focus rather than slow them down.
Purpose: why we do it
Sano Genetics helps pharmaceutical companies developing genetically targeted medicines find, engage, and retain the right patients. We work with some of the largest pharma organisations in the world, running precision programmes that compress clinical trial timelines and reduce enrolment risk. Our deals are consultative, science-led, and rarely straightforward; every proposal is shaped around the sponsor's specific programme, patient population, and regulatory landscape.
Vision: where we’re going
Become the world’s best source of patient-in-the-loop genomic and health data for precision medicine development

Headlines:
- Role - Site Engagement Lead
- Salary - $70,000 to $88,000
- Location - US fully remote in the following states: CA, IL, MA, MO, NJ, NY, NC, PA, TX
As Site Engagement Lead, you will be the primary point of contact between Sano Genetics, the sponsor and/or CRO, and the clinical trial and referring sites. You will shape a strategic site network that supports recruitment across Sano’s portfolio, build lasting relationships with site teams, and run day-to-day site engagement operations.
1. Strategic referring site network
- Define and own Sano’s referring site network strategy, prioritising sites that can support recruitment across multiple programmes and therapeutic areas rather than a single study
- Map and assess potential partner sites (patient populations, disease areas, capacity, research experience) through desk research and market intelligence to build a targeted pipeline
- Segment and tier the network, focusing investment on high-value sites and developing them into long-term recruitment partners
- Work with Project Leads and sponsors to match network sites to new and upcoming programmes and define the Sano referring site offering for each study
- Grow the network as a recruitment channel, tracking its contribution across the portfolio
2. Site relationship building
- Build and maintain trusted, long-term relationships with PIs, study coordinators and other site staff across programmes
- Conduct in-person site visits to strengthen partnerships, understand site workflows and identify barriers to referral
- Represent Sano at investigator meetings and monitor meetings, in person or virtual
- Hold intro calls with prospective sites to present the Sano initiative and establish ongoing collaboration
- Act as the consistent Sano point of contact for each site, so relationships carry over from one programme to the next
3. Site engagement & feedback loop
- Design and run a structured engagement programme that keeps sites active between and across studies (regular check-ins, study updates, newsletters, recognition of top-referring sites)
- Build a robust feedback loop with sites: gather regular input on referral quality, patient experience, materials and the Sano platform, and close the loop by sharing what has changed
- Share performance insights back with sites (referral volumes, patient progress, benchmarks) to maintain motivation and trust
- Feed site insights into study set-up, materials, platform improvements and future programme planning
4. Study set-up: protocol review & patient profiling
- Review study protocols and create recruitment solutions - patient journey mapping, patient profiles and patient profile questionnaires - to accelerate study set-up and launch
5. Site onboarding & training
- Structure training for trial sites onboarding to the Sano platform and for sites receiving referrals from the Sano network
- Set up new sites on the Sano platform once training is complete
- Act as an evangelist for Sano’s HCP flows and functionality (e.g. HCP referral submission, patient eligibility checks and referral status tracking), showing site staff how the platform reduces referral burden and making it their default referral route
- Run demos and refreshers on new HCP-facing functionality, and drive sustained platform utilisation beyond initial onboarding
6. Site engagement materials
- Define site engagement strategies and messaging beyond onboarding — patient flyers, HCP flyers, study guides, doctor-to-colleague letters, posters at sites
- Work with the design team to produce the final format of these materials
- Define processes and best practices for site engagement, which may include direct HCP engagement through Sano-led campaigns (e.g. letter campaigns) but excludes HCP-facing partner channels
7. Site performance & insights
- Monitor and track site performance, keeping site trackers up to date
- Analyse recruitment metrics and site performance, providing dashboards and insights to sites and sponsors to optimise enrolment
8. Patient referral management
- Contact eligible patients through the Sano platform for secondary pre-screening and connect them with sites
- Work with sites and the study Medical Monitor to determine eligibility of patients who meet any exclusion criteria
9. Site operations & logistics
- Coordinate printing and shipment of site materials
10. Compliance & patient-centricity
- Ensure all patient interactions and recruitment activities follow GCP and HIPAA / data privacy standards
11. Study delivery & collaboration
- Attend kick-off meetings (KOMs) and weekly internal and external meetings to provide study updates
- Liaise with the product team and project managers on delivery
- Support Recruitment & Engagement colleagues and complete internal reporting

Strategic site network: Build a strategic network of referring sites that supports Sano’s recruitment across multiple programmes, established as a scalable, repeatable recruitment channel
Site relationships: Develop strong, long-term relationships with trial and referring sites, so partner sites return to support new Sano programmes
Engagement & feedback loop: Design and implement a robust site engagement and feedback loop strategy that keeps sites active and feeds site insights into how Sano runs studies
