About this role

The Manager, Enrollment & Financial Operations leads the team responsible for two deeply interconnected domains: the adjudication of student enrollment and tuition assistance requests, and the financial and technical operations that govern WFE's relationships with educational providers and employer clients.

Every student request that is reviewed, approved, or denied generates the data that drives downstream financial activity — informing payments made to educational providers, amounts collected from employer clients, and the integrity of WFE's revenue share and platform fee structures. This role ensures these two functions operate as a single, integrated system.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

ENROLLMENT OPERATIONS

- Lead the team responsible for reviewing, adjudicating, and processing student tuition assistance requests.
- Ensure approval decisions are made consistently and in accordance with each employer client's benefit policy.
- Maintain and continuously improve SOPs governing the adjudication workflow from submission through final disposition.
- Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure decision accuracy and policy compliance.
- Identify and escalate policy exceptions, edge cases, and systemic issues.
- Partner with Customer Success and Solutions Engineering to ensure client benefit configurations are accurate.

FINANCIAL OPERATIONS

- Oversee all financial transactions including direct payments from employer clients to educational providers and reimbursement processing.
- Own the invoicing and billing cycle for employer clients — including platform fees — ensuring accuracy and clean reconciliation.
- Manage revenue share billing to educational providers in accordance with WFE's partner agreements.
- Ensure financial data from enrollment is complete and accurate to support downstream payment operations.
- Maintain financial controls and audit readiness across all payment and billing workflows.
- Partner with Finance, Legal, and Account Management to resolve billing disputes.

EDUCATIONAL PROVIDER TECHNICAL RELATIONSHIP

- Own the technical components of WFE's relationships with educational providers — data exchange protocols, integration standards, file/feed management.
- Ensure data passed between WFE and educational providers is accurate, timely, and correctly formatted.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to prioritize and resolve technical issues affecting the provider data pipeline.

PEOPLE LEADERSHIP & TEAM OPERATIONS

- Manage a small team of analysts and operations specialists across enrollment, financial, and provider operations.
- Set clear performance expectations, provide regular coaching and feedback, and support professional development.
- Build and maintain a team culture grounded in accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the team has documented processes for every recurring workflow — with clear escalation paths.

PROCESS BUILDING, AUTOMATION & MODERNIZATION

- Build operational infrastructure from scratch: documented processes, dashboards, and tracking mechanisms.
- Define success metrics and SLAs for every workflow, establishing measurable standards for speed, accuracy, and quality.
- Identify opportunities to introduce AI tools and automation to modernize legacy processes without sacrificing accuracy.
- Reduce operational risk by systematically eliminating manual steps — designing workflows that constrain human error at the source.
- Build dashboards providing real-time visibility into operational performance and financial accuracy.

Job Skills:

- Financial data analysis including invoicing, reconciliation, and payment processing
- Process design and SOP development
- People management and team development
- Cross-functional collaboration (Finance, Product, Engineering, Legal, client-facing teams)
- Automation and AI tool implementation
- Dashboard and reporting tool proficiency
- High attention to detail and intolerance for process ambiguity

Work Experience:

- Required: 3-6 years in operations, financial operations, or a related field with demonstrated end-to-end process ownership. Prior people management experience required.
- Preferred: EdTech, benefits administration, financial services, or compliance-sensitive environment. Familiarity with tuition assistance or workforce education benefit administration.
