About this role
Supply Chain Manager
Job Description The Supply Chain Manager will lead the supply chain strategy and operations for a growing manufacturing-focused team, driving end-to-end planning, sourcing, inventory, and logistics to support significant business growth. This role operates frequently in grey areas and requires a visionary, hands-on leader who can build structure, processes, and capabilities while partnering closely with manufacturing and cross-functional teams. The position plays a critical role in shaping the future of the manufacturing organization and ensuring that supply chain performance supports ambitious customer, cost, and service objectives. Responsibilities
- Develop and execute short- and long-term supply chain strategies that align demand, capacity, sourcing, inventory, and logistics with business growth, customer service, cost, and working-capital objectives.
- Lead enterprise Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP/SIOP), translating demand forecasts into executable supply, production, capacity, and inventory plans.
- Negotiate and manage contracts and agreements with strategic suppliers and service providers, ensuring quality, cost, delivery, innovation, capacity, and continuity of supply.
- Establish supplier segmentation, performance management, and development programs using measurable quality, cost, delivery, responsiveness, sustainability, and risk metrics.
- Partner with manufacturing, sales, engineering, quality, finance, and operations to align product launches, make-versus-buy decisions, production schedules, material availability, and continuous improvement priorities.
- Improve end-to-end planning and execution processes through standardized work, disciplined use of ERP and planning systems, robust data governance, automation, and clearly defined decision rights.
- Monitor market, commodity, supplier, capacity, and logistics trends and develop mitigation plans for material constraints and supply disruptions to maintain business continuity.
- Own inventory strategy and performance, including setting service-level targets, defining safety-stock policies, segmenting materials, reducing excess and obsolete inventory, and improving working capital.
- Establish, track, and continuously improve supply chain performance using KPIs such as forecast accuracy, schedule attainment, supplier on-time delivery, inventory turns, purchase price variance, expedite costs, and customer service levels.
- Lead cost, productivity, and value-engineering initiatives across the supply base while balancing total cost of ownership, quality, lead time, and operational risk.
- Develop the vision, operating model, and priorities for a team spanning strategic sourcing, procurement, demand and supply planning, inventory, and logistics, with a focus on process excellence and measurable business results.
- Foster teamwork, collaboration, and integration within the Supply Chain function and across the broader organization to provide cohesive solutions and ensure effective delivery of strategy.
- Lead team members by example, providing effective coaching and feedback, setting clear individual and team priorities, and managing performance to drive high results.
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders at diverse organizational levels and functional backgrounds, influencing decisions in a matrix environment.
- Champion superior customer service by ensuring a customer-focused approach and strong service orientation across all supply chain activities.
- Perform all other duties as assigned in support of the evolving needs of the manufacturing and supply chain organization.
Essential Skills
- Deep knowledge of manufacturing operations, production planning, material requirements planning (MRP), procurement, inventory management, warehousing, logistics, and supplier management.
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and/or leading enterprise-wide S&OP/SIOP processes.
- Expertise in demand planning, supply and capacity planning, master scheduling, and translating forecasts into executable operating plans.
- Proven people leadership experience building, coaching, and developing high-performing supply chain teams, including establishing clear roles, goals, accountability, and succession plans.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence executive, commercial, engineering, finance, quality, and plant stakeholders within a matrix organization.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen, including total cost of ownership analysis, working-capital management, inventory optimization, should-cost analysis, and business-case development.
- Proficiency with ERP and MRP systems, advanced planning tools, business intelligence platforms, and data-analysis tools, with the ability to improve master data, reporting, and process adoption.
- Excellent negotiation skills for managing strategic supplier and service-provider relationships.
- Strong problem-solving, change-leadership, and executive communication skills, with the ability to make timely decisions under supply, capacity, and customer-demand uncertainty.
- Bachelors degree in business, supply chain management, construction management, or an equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a manufacturing-focused environment with complex, high-impact projects.
- Demonstrated success driving process excellence and continuous improvement across supply chain functions.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous or evolving situations and to build structure where processes are still developing.
- Comfort working closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams to support product launches and make-versus-buy decisions.
- Strong customer-service mindset with a focus on reliability, responsiveness, and long-term partnership.
- Experience establishing and managing KPIs to drive performance and accountability across the supply chain.
