As a Team Leader, you will set the direction for a distributed team of consultants and group presenters, creating the conditions for consistently high-quality, consultative participant interactions across channels. You will coach crew through observation and actionable feedback, translate insights into stronger engagement strategies, and partner with engagement coaches to accelerate capability and performance.
You will also collaborate with internal client teams to shape strategic plan sponsor engagement, align education solutions to client priorities, and demonstrate the value of our work to institutional relationships. The right candidate will be energized by the opportunity to evolve the role, modernize the service model, and convert participant, client, and performance insights into measurable impact. This role includes oversight of capacity, resources, budget, business initiatives, and risk, and requires significant travel and applicable licensing.
In this role, you will:
- Lead, inspire, and develop a hybrid team of consultants and group presenters who deliver in-person and virtual experiences for retirement plan participants.
- Set clear performance expectations and build a high-accountability, inclusive culture through regular observation, coaching, feedback, recognition, and talent development.
- Partner with engagement coaches to strengthen consultative skills, presentation effectiveness, product fluency, and consistent execution across individual and group interactions.
- Serve as a strategic partner to internal client relationship teams, helping shape plan sponsor engagement strategies that align participant education to client objectives and reinforce the value of Vanguard’s relationship.
- Engage plan sponsors, when appropriate, to understand priorities, recommend high-impact engagement approaches, and communicate outcomes and opportunities that strengthen institutional relationships.
- Use participant, client, quality, and operational insights to identify trends, measure impact, and evolve the service model, content, and delivery strategy.
- Translate business priorities into actionable plans for staffing, capacity, scheduling, travel, resources, and budget across a geographically distributed team.
- Collaborate across the organization to develop and improve education experiences, tools, and content that create seamless participant journeys and inspire meaningful action.
- Lead change with clarity and purpose, testing new approaches and scaling practices that improve participant outcomes, plan sponsor satisfaction, team effectiveness, and business results.
- Maintain strong knowledge of Vanguard funds, products, services, and relevant industry, legal, tax, and regulatory considerations; provide effective supervision and risk oversight.
- Participate in business planning, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Seven or more years of related experience in financial services, retirement, education, advice, client service, or a comparable participant-facing environment.
- Experience leading teams and engaging with plan sponsors and client relationship teams within the retirement recordkeeping industry.
- A strong track record of developing talent, building strong teams, and delivering measurable results.
- Experience leading hybrid and geographically distributed teams and strengthening performance across in-person and virtual delivery channels.
- Strong executive presence, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage audiences ranging from frontline crew to senior internal partners and plan sponsors.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted partnerships, influence across organizational boundaries, and connect client priorities to participant and business outcomes.
- Strategic and innovative mindset, with the courage to challenge current practices, navigate ambiguity, and move ideas from concept to sustainable execution.
- Strong analytical judgment and comfort using data, feedback, and operational insights to prioritize opportunities and measure success.
- Sound investment and retirement plan acumen, with an interest in helping participants make informed decisions and take meaningful action.
