About this role
SAIC has an immediate need for a Terrestrial Sensor SME to support our team located at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
The Terrestrial Sensor SME acts as the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) G7’s primary technical expert, translating complex hardware, software, and physical layer capabilities into strategic requirements, acquisition-ready documentation, and actionable operational integration plans.
Responsibilities:
- Be INSCOM G7's primary technical expert on terrestrial sensor programs (e.g., TLS-BCT, TLS-Echelons Above Division) at GO/FO level forums, PM (Program Manager) reviews, and Joint/Army modernization working groups.
- Lead the development, drafting, and staffing of terrestrial sensor requirements documents (CDDs, ICDs) and operational concepts to influence the JCIDS process and future Army acquisitions.
- Synchronize terrestrial sensor integration with INSCOM G3 (Operations), G6 (Communications/IT), and Army Cyber Command to ensure sensor data feeds seamlessly into the wider intelligence architecture.
- Provide feasible and actionable recommendations to INSCOM G7 leadership via white papers, technical assessments, and Army Memos regarding emerging terrestrial sensing technologies, capability gaps, and material solutions.
- Oversee the alignment of terrestrial sensor systems with the Intelligence/SIGINT/Cyber enterprise, ensuring local sensor data is ingestible by advanced analytics platforms and cloud environments.
Required Education:
- Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
Qualifications :
- Deep technical knowledge of Army terrestrial sensing platforms, to include Tactical Land Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Electronic Warfare (EW), Cyberspace, and electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensors.
- Demonstrated experience integrating terrestrial sensors into broader networks and processing systems (e.g., PM EW&C systems, DCGS-A, tactical communications fabrics, and cloud-based data lakes).
- Proven track record navigating the Army Requirements Determination, JCIDS, and Defense Acquisition System pathways specifically for intelligence or electronic sensor payloads.
- Expert understanding of tactical data dissemination, sensor-to-shooter links, and processing/analytics principles that turn raw terrestrial sensor data into combat-ready intelligence.
- Exceptional ability to translate highly complex technical specifications (e.g., frequency ranges, gain, sensor processing limitations) into plain-language mission impacts for senior military leaders.
- Capacity to independently identify capability gaps in current terrestrial fleets, evaluate emerging commercial/defense tech, and formulate mitigation strategies.
Clearance:
- Candidate must have an active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI Poly.
