You'll play an important role in making a difference that creates a safer, healthier and stronger Alberta by putting people first. We work together every day to help minimize the impact of workplace injuries and illnesses on Alberta workers and employers.

As the independent operator and administrator of the province’s Workers’ Compensation Act , WCB-Alberta provides protection for over two million workers and nearly 200,000 Alberta employers. Our employees are inspired to make a positive impact on the lives of injured workers and businesses throughout the province.

How you’ll make a difference:

Are you an organized, proactive administrative professional who enjoys working with people, keeping things on track, and finding ways to make things run more smoothly? Do you thrive in a busy environment where priorities can change and no two days are quite the same?

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Services, you will provide administrative support and be relied upon as a trusted partner in keeping day-to-day operations organized and running smoothly. From coordinating meetings and preparing reports to supporting departmental projects and maintaining key processes, you will play an important role in keeping the team connected, informed, and on track.

If you are someone who takes initiative, pays attention to the details, and enjoys being a reliable resource for others, we would love to hear from you.

Your responsibilities:

- Provide administrative support to the Director, with additional support to divisional leadership as required.

- Manage the Director’s calendar, coordinate and organize regular and ad hoc meetings - including agendas, meeting materials/minutes, travel arrangements, and follow-up on action items.

- Oversee the staff parking program and maintain the associated database.

- Prepare, proofread, and format correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, and confidential documents.

- Coordinate travel, professional development, subscriptions, department activities and events, and related expense payments and reconciliations.
- Action general inquiries to the appropriate area(s) acting as an information resource for internal and external clients.
- Support the Corporate Services Business Process Specialist with monthly, quarterly and annual budgets and financial reporting, sustainability initiatives, and the Employer of Choice report.

- Look for opportunities to improve administrative processes, procedures, and recommend changes where appropriate.

- Take on other administrative duties as needed.

Your experience and skills:

You are organized, approachable, and comfortable juggling competing priorities. You know how to stay on top of the details, use good judgment, and adapt when plans change. Just as importantly, you enjoy working with others and take pride in providing dependable, responsive support.

You will also bring:

- Post-secondary education in business, office administration, or a related field with 5+ years of progressively responsible administrative experience (equivalencies will be considered).
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with experience using Lotus Notes and other business systems.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a busy workload and meet competing deadlines.
- Excellent written communication, proofreading, editing, and document-preparation skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build positive working relationships with a variety of people.
- The ability to work independently, take initiative, exercise sound judgment, and contribute as part of a team.
- The flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and respond to new requests as they arise.
