ROLE OVERVIEW
The Senior MDM Data Steward serves as the authoritative steward for patient and provider domains for master data across the Enterprise Data Platform, providing leadership for the operational governance, quality, and integrity of enterprise identity data. This role owns the stewardship framework supporting patient and provider master records and is accountable for ensuring that Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) patient global identifiers and MDM provider global identifiers within the Silver (conformed canonical) layer remain accurate, complete, traceable, and trusted for analytics, reporting, regulatory compliance, operational decision-making, and AI-driven use cases.
Operating with a high degree of independence, the Senior MDM Data Steward leads identity resolution activities, establishes and maintains stewardship standards, and exercises judgment in the review and disposition of complex match, merge, and identity exception scenarios. The steward proactively identifies data quality risks, drives remediation efforts across source systems, oversees survivorship rule execution, and serves as the primary escalation point for patient and provider identity-related issues. In partnership with Business Data Owners, Data Governance leaders, and source-system stakeholders, this role influences stewardship practices, promotes data quality accountability, and drives continuous improvement of master data management processes.
The Senior MDM Data Steward also owns the maintenance and ongoing governance of patient and provider business glossary terms, data quality rules and definitions, lineage context, stewardship procedures, issue records, and related governance artifacts within Snowflake Horizon Catalog. Through active monitoring, analysis, and stewardship leadership, the role ensures critical business and technical metadata remains current, actionable, and aligned with enterprise data governance standards and strategic data management objectives.
Consistent with LifeStance’s values, every member of the LifeStance team is expected to support each other and the mission, which may mean participating in projects and initiatives and performing functions and responsibilities not specifically outlined in this job description.

- Provide leadership for provider data quality and governance initiatives, ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and usability of provider practice, location, and organizational affiliation data supporting operational, analytical, credentialing, reimbursement, and regulatory reporting needs.
- Partner with Data Architecture to evaluate and tune Verato match thresholds, referential matching configuration, survivorship, and attribute precedence rules; measure the effect on auto-match, potential-match, unmatched, and false-positive rates before changes are promoted.
- Ownership over establishing and maintaining enterprise standards for data stewardship decisions, ensuring comprehensive documentation of exceptions, adjudication rationale, survivorship outcomes, merge and unmerge activities, and record-resolution actions to support auditability, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts.
Data Quality, Issue Management & Silver Layer Validation (approximately 25%)
- Establish and own the business acceptance standards for patient and provider mastered records, source-to-global ID crosswalks, identity resolution outcomes, and golden-record quality within the Snowflake Silver layer, ensuring alignment with enterprise data governance and operational objectives.
- Provide oversight of EMPI patient and provider global ID integrity within the Snowflake Silver layer by proactively identifying data quality defects, validating adherence to business rules, and directing remediation efforts with Data Engineering and DataOps teams to ensure timely resolution.

- Lead the governance and lifecycle management of patient and provider master data issues, prioritizing remediation activities based on business impact, overseeing issue resolution progress, and providing transparent reporting on ownership, remediation status, risk exposure, and closure outcomes.

- Own the maintenance and governance of master data lineage and identifier crosswalks, ensuring accurate traceability between source-system MRNs, provider identifiers, and enterprise global IDs while supporting audit, compliance, and operational reporting requirements.
- Serve as the primary business lead for identity-related incidents and data quality escalations, coordinating cross-functional resolution efforts, driving stakeholder alignment, and ensuring corrective actions are effectively prioritized, tested, and promoted through established release and change-management processes.

- Partner with operational and business leaders to strengthen upstream data governance and capture processes, identifying opportunities to enhance controls, workflows, and accountability measures that reduce the creation of duplicate, incomplete, and conflicting patient and provider records at the source.
- Develop, own, and present executive-level stewardship performance reporting, delivering monthly scorecards and actionable insights on duplicate rates, unmatched records, match accuracy, exception backlog and aging, source correction effectiveness, provider data completeness, global ID coverage, and recurring root-cause trends to support informed decision-making.
