About this role

A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love. That’s what makes us Roche.

This role is in Early Development Biometrics (EDB), a core function within Product Development Data Sciences (PDD) that provides strategic leadership and scientific rigor across early clinical development at Roche. We partner across Biostatistics, Analytical Data Science, and Data Management to enable data-driven decision-making from first-in-human through proof-of-concept studies.

As trusted partners in early development, we design efficient and innovative clinical trials, apply rigorous statistical methods, and implement high-quality programming and analytical solutions to accelerate timelines, de-risk development, and increase the probability of technical success. Our integrated teams operate with agility and scientific depth, supporting exploratory analyses, early regulatory engagements, and complex data-generation needs across therapeutic areas. Together, we bring scientific rigor, technical innovation, and strategic insight to shape the future of early development and deliver better outcomes for patients. Early Development Biometrics is also home to Methods Collaboration & Outreach (MCO), which enables the most impactful use of quantitative methodology across PDD through internal consultation, external collaboration, and continuous capability building; and Visual Analytics, which creates and maintains interactive dashboards that drive high-quality Medical Data Review (MDR) and safety signal detection, aligned with Risk-Based Quality Management (RBQM) principles and Critical-to-Quality (CtQ) endpoints.

The Opportunity:

The Real-time Visual Analytics Lead is responsible for driving the strategic direction, delivery excellence, and capability development of the Real-time Visual Analytics function within Early Development Biometrics. This role leads a team of Real-time Visual Analytics Specialists who create and manage interactive, study-level dashboards that enable high-quality Medical Data Review (MDR) and safety signal detection, aligned with Risk-Based Quality Management (RBQM) principles and Critical to Quality (CtQ) endpoints.

As the Real-time Visual Analytics Lead, you will oversee the portfolio-wide implementation of visualization strategy, ensuring timely, scalable, and scientifically aligned delivery across early-phase studies. You will collaborate closely with biometrics leadership and clinical stakeholders to evolve visualization standards, guide implementation timelines, and optimize internal frameworks and tooling.

You will also be responsible for talent development, process harmonization, and fostering a high-performing team culture focused on user-centered visual analytics, scientific rigor, and operational efficiency. Your leadership ensures that visualizations are not only technically robust but also embedded as a critical component of insight generation in early development.

- You define and lead the visual analytics strategy for early-phase clinical studies, ensuring alignment with Medical Data Review Plans (MDRPs), Critical to Quality (CtQ) endpoints, and Risk-Based Quality Management (RBQM) principles
- You oversee the development, standardization, and continuous improvement of data visualization templates, modules, and tools used across early and late development programs
- You ensure timely, high-quality delivery of visual analytics solutions by aligning implementation with key study milestones such as First Patient In, cohort reviews, or safety data review committee meetings
- You collaborate with biometrics and clinical leaders to prioritize visual analytics workstreams based on study complexity, safety considerations, and decision-critical timelines
- You guide the integration of CRF and non-CRF data sources into visualization workflows, ensuring scalability, traceability, and scientific relevance
- You lead the evolution of best practices for visual analytics design, interactivity, user experience, and compliance with Roche standards
- You serve as a key interface for real-time visual analytics in cross-functional forums, contributing to data strategy, digital enablement, and clinical insights generation initiatives
- You monitor industry trends and internal feedback to evaluate and adopt new tools, platforms, or visualization approaches that enhance the function’s impact
- You lead, mentor, and develop a team of Real-time Visual Analytics Specialists, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and fostering a culture of scientific excellence, innovation, and continuous learning
- You define clear expectations, performance goals, and development pathways to support career progression and technical growth within the visual analytics discipline
- You promote knowledge-sharing, peer review, and collaborative problem-solving across the team to maintain high-quality, reproducible visual analytics practices
- You ensure appropriate resourcing, workload balancing, and delivery timelines across studies and programs based on complexity, risk, and business needs
- You partner with Early Development Biometrics leadership to evolve the role of Real-time Visual Analytics Specialists, contribute to long-term capability planning, and support future-state design
- You collaborate with People & Culture (P&C) to attract, retain, and onboard diverse talent with expertise in clinical data visualization, user-centered design, and analytics tooling
- You model Roche’s leadership commitments by fostering psychological safety, promoting open feedback, and empowering team members to lead from every seat

Who You Are:

- Bachelor’s degree in related technical field with 10+ years of related experience or Equivalent combination of education and experience
- You demonstrate expertise in building, scaling, and managing visual analytics solutions to support Medical Data Review and safety monitoring
- You bring a deep understanding of Risk-Based Quality Management (RBQM), Critical to Quality (CtQ) endpoints, and how to apply these principles to visualization strategy
- You have a proven ability to lead technical teams and manage complex portfolios of visual analytics deliverables across multiple studies or programs
- You possess strong working knowledge of tools such as Spotfire, Tableau, or equivalent platforms for clinical data visualization
- You have experience integrating CRF and non-CRF data sources into visualization workflows
- You demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and align technical delivery with clinical timelines and decision points
- You show respect for cultural differences when interacting with colleagues in the global workplace

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience defining and implementing global standards for clinical data visualization within a regulated environment
- Familiarity with Medical Data Review Plans (MDRPs), safety signal detection workflows, and data review committee processes
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional initiatives related to digital enablement, data strategy, or user-centered design
- Expertise in user experience (UX) principles and the application of interactivity and visual storytelling in clinical analytics tools
- Understanding of Roche systems, data standards, and clinical operations, particularly in early development
- Prior involvement in capability building, training, or mentoring programs for technical teams
- Interest in or experience with emerging analytics platforms, automation, or dashboard governance frameworks
- Track record of influencing tool selection, technology adoption, or process design to enhance the impact and scalability of visual analytics
