About this role
Description
AI, automation, and robotics are transforming how the world works, and Amazon, as one of the largest employers on the planet, has a unique opportunity to lead the way in preparing people for what comes next. This role puts you at the center of that effort, at an unprecedented technological moment, shaping programs and communications that will touch tens of millions of lives.
As Sr PR Manager, Future of Work Communications, you will define, build, own, and maintain the Future Ready campaign: a cross-channel effort anchored by Amazon's $2.5 billion commitment to help 50 million people grow their skills for in-demand jobs by 2030 and built on the company's successful track record of upskilling. You won't just tell the story; you'll help shape the programs behind it. That means building, scaling, and maintaining campaigns end-to-end, from the ground up: identifying the opportunity, sourcing data to inform your approach, developing programs that address it, and working with teams across the company to bring them to life through earned, owned, and social media, third-party voices, and strategic partnerships.
You're a big thinker and a storyteller at your core. You thrive in ambiguity, can start from a future vision (maybe years down the road) and work backwards to understand how we get there, and you think both globally and locally. You generate ideas relentlessly, and when one doesn't land, you learn from it and come back with something better. You look around corners, anticipating what could become an issue, where a story could go, and which stakeholders need to be brought in early so the team can stay ahead of the moment. You aren't afraid to push back, challenge assumptions, hold partners accountable, even at senior levels, or debate strategies with leaders at every level, because you know that's how good work becomes great. You navigate complex stakeholder dynamics across business, legal, policy, and communications teams, aligning on positioning, timing, and sequencing for announcements that carry significant external visibility.
You use your storytelling skill to get ahead of challenges, not just react to them. You'll stay close to how conversations around AI, innovation, and the future of work are evolving, helping the business understand emerging trends and shape thoughtful, proactive communications. You’ll help position Amazon’s investments and innovation in a way that resonates with employees, customers, and external audiences. When issues arise, you’ll bring sound judgment and a thoughtful communications approach to help the team navigate them effectively.
This is a strong independent contributor role that will have access to additional support from members of the broader team as needed but isn't responsible for direct management. It reports into the Global Operations and Workplace Reputation Communications team within Global Corporate Communications.
Key job responsibilities
-Develop and execute complex communications programs that require input from internal and external leaders, defining strategy where none currently exists and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
-Build and maintain cooperative relationships with media outlet representatives, engaging regularly to secure impactful coverage and manage reputational narratives.
-Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize communications initiatives, making smart trade-offs on timing, effort, and deliverables while establishing clear and measurable success criteria.
-Identify and assess reputational and sentiment risks, establishing protocols and engaging the right partners to take timely, appropriate action.
-Author and review high-quality written materials—including narratives, communications plans, and business documents—providing guidance on writing excellence and ensuring alignment with team and organizational goals.
A day in the life
You might start your morning reviewing media coverage and sentiment data to brief a leader ahead of an important announcement. By midday, you could be working with a cross-functional team to brainstorm new global program offerings for the workforce of tomorrow, pressure-testing assumptions and aligning stakeholders on messaging. In the afternoon, you may connect with media contacts to pitch a story or hear what trends they're most interested in, then close out by reviewing metrics and updating your team's communications roadmap to keep programs on track.
