About this role
SAIC is seeking a Cloud Engineer to design, build, secure, and operate cloud infrastructure and data platforms for U.S. Government customers. You will work across AWS and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) , from the secure cloud foundation, to the data pipelines that run on it, to the AI-enabled automation that makes both faster and safer to operate.
You will join a small, senior team in a regulated environment and work code-first: infrastructure, pipelines, and deployments are defined in version control, reviewed, and repeatable. You will work directly with customers and own the delivery of your piece of the solution from design through production support. This role can be worked remotely within the United states for the right candidate.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and migrate secure, highly available environments in AWS and OCI, including network, identity, compute, storage, database, and Kubernetes (EKS, OKE) components.
- Architect and deploy compliant enclaves that meet government security requirements (for example SCCA, DoD cloud security, FedRAMP).
- Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, OCI Resource Manager) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins) for infrastructure, applications, and data workloads.
- Design, build, and operate Python data pipelines that ingest, validate, transform, and publish data into cloud data stores, using scheduled and event-driven services (for example Kubernetes jobs, S3, SQS/SNS, Lambda, Step Functions) with built-in data quality, retries, and lineage.
- Apply AI and LLM services (for example Amazon Bedrock) to automate operations and data work, such as incident triage, runbook generation, and classification steps in pipelines, with the validation, human review, and auditability a regulated environment requires.
- Implement and maintain security controls (IAM, network segmentation, encryption, secrets management) and run regular vulnerability and configuration scans, including ACAS, tracking findings to closure.
- Monitor and tune performance, cost, and availability; diagnose and resolve complex issues with minimal downtime.
- Maintain designs, diagrams, asset inventories, SOPs, and the knowledge base; train and assist users and teammates.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science , Information Technology, or a related field and 9 years of experience. Masters and 7 Yyears of experience.
- Security+ Certification
- Candidates must be U.S. Citizens
- Candidates must have an interim Secret clearance before starting and have the ability to get a Secret clearance.
- Hands-on cloud engineering on AWS and/or OCI: compute, storage, virtual networking, load balancers, managed databases, and IAM.
- Strong infrastructure as code skills (Terraform preferred).
- Python proficiency for automation and data pipelines; Bash or PowerShell.
- Experience building or operating data pipelines (batch, scheduled, or event-driven).
- CI/CD experience (GitLab, Jenkins, or similar) and working knowledge of containers and Kubernetes.
- Monitoring and logging experience (for example CloudWatch, OCI Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Practical experience, or demonstrated ability, applying AI and LLM services to automation and data workflows.
- Solid understanding of cloud security best practices, and experience preparing technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills; able to work with senior customers, collaborate in a distributed team, and manage multiple priorities.
