About the role:

Origin's Oil & LNG Portfolio Trading team manages our international financial oil, LNG and coal exposures alongside the physical LNG book. As Portfolio Trader, LNG Origination, you will set the commercial strategy on Origin's US Gulf Coast LNG position, execute it, and originate new business around it. Based in Sydney and reporting to the Group Manager, Oil & LNG Portfolio Trading, you will run a live position with a mandate to grow beyond it, and work across Origin's wholesale portfolio wherever cross-commodity exposure creates opportunity. The role trades into European and US sessions, so expect a working pattern that reflects that.

Key responsibilities:

- Set and execute the marketing strategy for Origin's US Gulf Coast LNG volumes: where cargoes go, on what terms, and how the position is hedged.

- Run counterparty negotiations and manage Origin's obligations under existing supply arrangements, reading contracts for embedded options and flexibility to create trading positions and structured deals.

- Originate new LNG portfolio opportunities in international and domestic markets, building a counterparty network that increases deal flow and sharpens market intelligence.

- Develop and execute forward hedging strategies for Origin's international oil, LNG and coal price exposure, trading in European and US hours and working with Treasury on FX risk.

- Present the monthly trading strategy and outcomes to senior management and the Risk Committee, and take deals through governance with Legal, Tax, Credit, Insurance, Treasury and Group Finance.

What will you bring?

- Physical LNG trading or origination experience, including cargo marketing, term and spot deals, and negotiating MSPAs, SPAs and confirmations.

- At least three years in international energy markets in a trading, origination or portfolio management role, with an understanding of Australian as well as international energy markets (AFMA accreditation preferred).

- Fluency in the pricing and derivatives around a US Gulf Coast LNG position: Henry Hub, JKM, TTF and Brent, and the spreads between them.

- The ability to read a contract for its commercial value, not just its obligations, and a counterparty network across international LNG (or the track record to build one quickly).

- A degree in a quantitative discipline such as finance, economics, engineering, science or mathematics, and the ability to explain complex structures clearly to a Risk Committee and work effectively with internal teams and senior third-party counterparts.
