What you’ll be doing...

You and your team will be working on a real project in real time: it’ll be impactful and timely work that the business depends on. In recent summers, interns in the Call Routing Optimization organization have:

- Researched emerging contact center and routing technologies, attended technical learning sessions, and identified creative applications for Verizon customer success channels.
- Supported the documentation and continuous updates of multi-year call routing and CTI technology roadmaps across Mobile Customer Service and Fios platforms.
- Prototyped call routing algorithms and participated in architecture evaluation sessions to determine business impact, efficiency metrics, and system feasibility.

In this hybrid internship, based out of Basking Ridge, NJ, you’ll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager. If relocation is required, relocation assistance may be available.

You’ll also join us for the Intern Marquee event in Basking Ridge, NJ, a unique, in-person experience designed exclusively for all US interns. This multi-day event is your chance to build your connections through structured networking and be inspired by top executives in a professional environment.

All successful applicants to this role will:

- Attended the October 20,  2026 Verizon VTeamer for a Day in Basking Ridge, NJ.
- Be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program with a graduation date between December 2027 - June 2028, and be in good academic standing.
- Have the ability to participate in a full-time, hybrid, 10-week (temporary) internship between June 2027 to August 2027.
- Have authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.
- Be willing and able to travel.
- Be willing and able to relocate.
- Demonstrate agile, clear, and persuasive written and verbal communication.
- Have demonstrated project or work experience with intelligent automation & workflow engineering, redesigning how work gets done through automated operations, MLOps, smart workflows, and agile delivery frameworks.
- Have experience with Cognitive Computing (Natural Language Processing [NLP] and Natural Language Generation [NLG]), AI tools such as Gemini, Claude, NotebookLM, and Generative AI Frameworks & Tools (LangChain, AutoGPT, Google Gemini, NotebookLM).

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in one of the following majors: Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Interaction Design, Network & Communications Management, Software Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related major.
- Knowledge of call routing logic, Computer Telephony Integration (CTI), Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems, or Telecommunication networks.
- Familiarity with queueing theory, optimization algorithms, or statistical simulation techniques.
- Demonstrated experience driving cross-functional projects, applying systems thinking, data-backed reasoning, and process simplification to solve complex problems and streamline workflows across matrixed teams.
- A track record of rapid skill acquisition and entrepreneurial initiative, with proven ability to leverage technical/data literacy (including AI tools) to adapt to shifting priorities and deliver customer-centric outcomes.

The base pay rate for this position is $27.00/hour.

## Where you’ll be working
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.
