About this role
The Brand Social marketing team's goal is to redefine modern marketing for the industry and enable demonstrable business growth - by elevating social to the center of Google's marketing model driven by AI, influencers, and trends.
In this role, you will lead Google’s Cultural Listening program and will connect social signals to human behavior, distinguish meaningful shifts from momentary noise, and turn those community insights into clear direction for marketing, creative and product teams. You will live in social conversation daily, helping us manage issues and opportunities as they arise, while driving marketing’s larger understanding of cultural shifts.
You will also lead day-to-day operations of the global, 24/7 listening program, directing agency and vendor partners. You will oversee systems for monitoring, triage and real-time community engagement, for cultural moments, positive mentions, brand safety issues, and emerging risks. You will leverage AI and automation to scale our listening systems, using signals to inform long-term product roadmaps, brand marketing and daily channel automation briefs. You will improve listening systems and cross-functional processes through AI and automation. You will investigate what positive and negative signals reveal about recurring needs, friction, workarounds, and unexpected uses, working with product partners to assess implications and inform decisions. You will be involved in Google’s brand channel programming priorities, including by inputting goals of owned social media channels and informing content, campaign and channel briefs.
You will combine investigative excellence with storytelling, cultural curiosity, and operational leadership. You are fascinated by people and communities, understand how platform mechanics shape participation and distribution, and can distinguish a finding from an interpretation that needs further investigation.
Know the user. Know the magic. Connect the two. At its core, marketing at Google starts with technology and ends with the user, bringing both together in unconventional ways. Our job is to demonstrate how Google's products solve the world's problems--from the everyday to the epic, from the mundane to the monumental. And we approach marketing in a way that only Google can--changing the game, redefining the medium, making the user the priority, and ultimately, letting the technology speak for itself.
