About this role

About Stoïk

Stoïk is a European cyber insurer that combines insurance with prevention. Our policyholders get cover, continuous monitoring and an in-house CERT that responds when an incident happens. We are tech-driven, human at heart, and growing fast across Europe with a challenger spirit.

The role

Product Development shapes the protection we offer. As Product Development Leader - Europe, you will own Stoïk's cyber insurance offer across Europe, for all segments we operate in, up to companies with €1Bn in revenue. You will design, launch and improve our policies, and adapt them to each market we enter.

You will play a central role in the Stoïk Insurance Think Tank, where we design, negotiate and innovate around new coverages. Your team will work hand in hand with our Underwriting and Claims teams every day.

- Reports to: the VP Insurance, directly
- Works hand in hand with: the Underwriting and Claims teams
- Also works closely with: our CERT, Product, Legal & Compliance, Sales and Marketing
- Location: based in one of our offices in Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Munich or Brussels

Responsibilities

Lead the product strategy

- Define and own the European product roadmap for our cyber offer, in line with Stoïk's growth plan and new markets.
- Build, lead and develop the product team, with clear priorities, standards and ways of working.
- Turn market, threat, legal and regulatory developments into product decisions.

Build and improve our policies

- Translate our underwriting intentions into clear, legally robust wordings, endorsements and proposal forms, and keep them up to date.
- Develop new products, extensions, sector solutions and services through the Stoïk Insurance Think Tank, with our CERT and prevention teams, from concept to launch.
- Adapt our core product to each European market, and run product governance (approvals, product reviews and regulatory documentation) in line with insurance distribution rules.

Work across Stoïk

- Work hand in hand with Underwriting and Claims on guidelines, appetite and profitability, and use CERT insights to close coverage gaps.
- Work with Legal & Compliance on each country's regulatory requirements, and support Sales and Marketing with broker materials and launches.
- Report, update and present on product performance and the roadmap to senior management, carriers, reinsurers and brokers.

Market intelligence

- Closely monitor what our competitors do: products, wordings, services, pricing and positioning.
- Gather feedback and ideas from insureds and brokers on new needs and expectations, and feed them into the roadmap.
- Track cyber threats, claims trends, case law and regulation that affect coverage.

Wording expert and Stoïk ambassador

- Be the point of contact for any wording question, internally and from brokers.
- Train our teams and educate brokers on our products, wording changes and what sets our coverage apart.
- Present at conferences and industry events as a Stoïk ambassador.

Requirements

Experience

- At least 5 years in insurance product development, wordings, underwriting or claims, across Europe or internationally.
- Proven cyber insurance experience is required; experience in other commercial lines (D&O, PI, FI, property) is a plus.
- A track record of drafting and managing policy wordings, and of launching new products or entering new markets.
- Creativity with wording, and ease drafting technical and complex clauses, are a plus.
- Experience leading or mentoring a team.
- Working knowledge of the regulatory framework around insurance products and cyber risk, including product governance (IDD / POG), GDPR and NIS2 / DORA.

Background and languages

- A legal background (law degree or legal practice) is required.
- Fluent English, plus fluency in at least one other European language, ideally French, Spanish or German. Any additional language is a plus.

How you work

- A team player who builds trust with underwriters, claims, CERT, brokers and partners.
- Strong organisational skills, able to run several product launches at once.
- Pragmatic and decisive: you ship, learn and improve quickly.
- Accountable for your results and your team's.
- A clear writer and confident presenter, able to explain complex coverage simply.
