About this role
Imagine a role where you could use your knowledge and skills to have a broader impact than anywhere else, and where you could make your own dent in the universe.
Apple’s Sales Engineering teams build the systems that enable any potential customer to have the greatest store experience, wherever they are in the world, and ensure that anyone selling Apple devices can do their best work supporting clients. If you are interested in understanding how things operate at scale, across hundreds of thousands of points of sale, and how the Apple experience is delivered globally, this role might be for you.
As an SDET in Sales Engineering, you will help ensure the quality of applications and services used by our channel partners, in Apple Stores, and by internal teams across the business. Our main products include DCOTA (Digital Content Over The Air), which manages over 1.4 million devices in our partners’ stores, and StoreFront, the go-to app for partner staff to manage their stores, covering marketing campaigns, fulfilment, ticketing, and support.
You will lead the quality strategy for Storefront. This is not about writing test scripts for others. It is about taking ownership of the platform testability, defining the processes (reporting, statuses, handovers), and identifying the right kind of tests to support the platform (unit vs component vs integration, UI vs API, manual vs automated) while keeping maintenance costs low. You will set the quality gates for the platform to ensure speed to market while maintaining high confidence in what ships.
Working closely with project managers, software engineers, and business teams, you will act as the primary advocate for quality. You will help shift quality thinking earlier into the design phase, guide developers on testing their own code effectively, and continuously update our strategy as the platform and the organisation evolve.
Minimum Qualifications
Proven software engineering fundamentals with strong proficiency in at least one modern general-purpose programming language.
Demonstrated track record of designing and executing quality strategies for multi-tier, distributed platforms (APIs, web, mobile).
Deep understanding of software architecture, system dependencies, and test pyramid trade-offs (cost vs. speed vs. confidence).
Experience defining quality gates, release criteria, and integrating automated validation into CI/CD pipelines.
Strong technical communication and influencing skills—ability to advocate for quality decisions with development, product, and leadership partners.
Preferred Qualifications
Practical experience improving quality culture across an engineering team
Experience designing performance, load, or resilience testing strategies
Experience using AI developer tools to assist with test generation or workflow efficiency
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent practical engineering experience
