About this role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, result & collaboration oriented, and empathy driven senior project manager for the Project Management and Project Management Office team, which is part of the Department Project Management & Training within Power Grids.

Introduction:

The Northern Europe Power Grids service area within Energy Systems supports a wide range of stakeholders, including Electricity Transmission & Distribution utilities, industrial asset owners, OEMs, developers, investors, and regulators worldwide. As a key partner in the energy transition, we assist with advisory services in expanding and reinforcing grids while leveraging digital transformation. Our extensive service portfolio covers the entire value chain of onshore and offshore electric grids, from power system planning and transmission & distribution technology to asset management and digital system operations.

In the dynamic landscape of energy transition, we recognize the need to evolve the Northern Europe Power Grids organization, so we can keep up and do even better. While our past organizational structure served us well, it’s time to look beyond the status quo and reshape our approach to better align with our strategic goals. We are streamlining processes, enhancing collaboration across departments/teams, and focusing on developing and managing more complex projects that will drive us forward. This transformation goes beyond organizational restructuring; it’s about cultivating a culture of continuous improvement on, for example efficiency, where every team member is empowered to contribute to our collective success, while developing themselves.

In the restructured organization, part of the Business Development, Project Management and Training activities are concentrated, while team sizes and combinations of teams in operational departments are also optimized to allow greater focus and efficiency (for further growth). As a result, there are 4 departments, headed by a Head of Department, and reporting to the Service Area Manager.

The Project Management and Project Management Office team:

The Project Management & training department exists out of 2 teams. One team is responsible for all training activities and is headed by a Manager Training. The other team unites dedicated Project Management and the Project Management Office, who will all directly report to the team lead of PM & PMO.

By recognizing dedicated Project Managers (PMs) and Project Management Officers (PMOs), we unload Power Grid employees who are focused on business development or technical project execution from Project Management tasks. The dedicated PMs are tasked with professionally managing larger / complex projects for all services across the different operational delivery teams. In the newly formulated role, PMOs will support these PMs and individuals in the different operational delivery teams who are managing smaller projects, but also manage smaller projects themselves.
By consolidating the PMs and PMOs into a dedicated team we harmonize our way of working in project management and nurture a clear path for career development in project management. This transformation approach is designed to improve customer satisfaction and drive operational efficiency and financial project success.

Senior Project Manager:

As a senior project manager, you will independently lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects for utilities and other stakeholders in the electricity transmission and distribution sector. You will take end-to-end responsibility for project governance, scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, contracts and stakeholder alignment, while coordinating cross-functional and international teams. You will be the senior point of contact for clients, providing strategic guidance, constructively challenging stakeholders and maintaining trusted relationships to achieve successful project outcomes.

Experience with grid code compliance projects—such as connection studies, compliance assessments, testing, verification or certification—is required.

You lead project planning and control, including resource scheduling, financial forecasting, change control and proactive management of risks, issues and dependencies, to improve predictability of workload, delivery and financial results. You create the conditions for project teams to perform effectively through clear governance, decision-making and accountability. You act as a senior sparring partner for colleagues and clients, support portfolio-level prioritization and escalation, and coach less experienced project managers where appropriate. You also lead or contribute to clear, high-quality reports, commercial offers and contractual discussions.
