About this role
Linklaters
Linklaters is a global law firm, providing legal services in 20 countries and through 30 offices.
Linklaters is a people business. Being best in class in the eyes of our clients means that our people must be exceptional.
We look not only for brilliant minds, but for people who will thrive in our environment: people who love working collaboratively and demonstrate the innovative, efficient, agile, entrepreneurial, and responsible mind-set we aim to bring to every interaction.
Ours is an environment of outperformance. We achieve this not with targets and incentives, but by fostering a positive, supportive, fair, and open atmosphere.
We respect and value difference but insist on inclusivity. We celebrate all aspects of diversity and challenge any form of bias. This is vital to our ability to work as one team, with a common goal.
Your role
- Bring direction and priorities to life: Work with the Strategy Lead and accountable leaders to understand Technology & Data’s agreed direction, priorities, programmes and significant departmental activity. Show why they matter to the firm, its clients and colleagues. Decisions and accountability remain with the relevant owners.
- Make complexity understandable: Develop enough organisational and technical understanding to communicate with accuracy and confidence. Connect different perspectives, spot what is missing or unclear, and take questions to the right person for resolution.
- Plan communication and engagement: Turn the most important activity across Technology & Data into a joined-up forward plan. Work with sponsors and teams to understand what each audience needs, shape the right messages and choose the most effective approach. Maintain a clear rhythm across the year, using feedback and evidence to improve what follows.
- Create clear and effective materials: Bring together contributions and shape them into clear, concise packs, briefings and presentations. Resolve editorial issues and flag substantive gaps before material reaches its audience.
- Bring colleagues together: Work closely with the CTDO, Strategy Lead and leadership team to make town halls and other forums valuable opportunities for colleagues to hear directly from leaders, understand what is happening and ask questions. Coordinate preparation, delivery and follow-up, helping everyone involved contribute at their best.
- Make progress meaningful: Turn approved roadmaps, KPI scorecards and leadership updates into a clear account of outcomes, progress and material risks. Work with accountable owners to make sure the measures and commentary tell a coherent story. Help each audience understand what the information means and what they need to do next.
- Build connection and participation: Create inclusive, two-way engagement across the global Technology & Data community and, where relevant, with colleagues across the firm. Help colleagues understand the direction, take the action needed and share what they are learning.
- Keep delivery moving: Coordinate planned and short-notice activity, making it easy for busy colleagues to contribute and keeping everyone clear on what is needed and when.
About you
- You communicate exceptionally well in writing, in presentations and in person. You know how to make a complex subject clear without stripping out what matters.
- You can work across strategic, programme and operational contexts, adapting the level of detail and communication approach while maintaining a coherent overall narrative.
- You think analytically and see how different parts of an organisation affect one another. You can build a coherent picture from incomplete or conflicting information and spot important gaps.
- You are curious and ask incisive questions. You test assumptions, learn quickly and distinguish the central issue from supporting detail.
- You enjoy working with people who bring different expertise and perspectives. You listen well, earn trust and are comfortable asking constructive questions, including when working with senior colleagues.
- You are genuinely interested in how technology and data can improve the firm. You do not need to arrive as a technical expert, but you will be keen to understand the opportunities, risks and choices involved.
- You are highly organised and dependable. You can keep several priorities moving, coordinate busy contributors and maintain quality when pace increases.
- You may have developed these skills in communications, change, consulting, analysis, technology or somewhere less conventional. We care more about how you think, work with others and make complex subjects useful than the route you took to get here.
- A rigorous analytical, scientific or technical background would be useful, but it is not essential. What matters is how you think, learn and apply new knowledge.
- Experience of Microsoft 365 engagement channels would be useful, but it is not central to the role.
