About this role
About Exotrail 🚀
Space is becoming more strategic and competitive than ever. Tomorrow’s space leaders will not simply launch satellites into orbit, they will be able to move them, reposition them, extend their lifetime, and maximize their performance in space.
Since 2017, Exotrail has been developing and operating cutting-edge in-space mobility solutions for commercial, institutional, and defense customers. From our high-performance propulsion system spaceware™ to our orbital transfer vehicle spacevan™ , we enable satellites to go farther, stay operational longer, and achieve more.
Today, more than 200 Exotrailers across Massy and Toulouse are working together to make space operations more efficient and sustainable.
Backed by over €75 million in funding , we are pursuing a clear mission:
Making space a sustainable frontier for future generations. 🚀
Job Description 👨💻
We are looking for a Fluidic Engineer at our Massy site, to support the rapid growth.
Attached to the System Engineer Team , you will be r esponsible for the design, modelling, and optimisation of fluidic systems associated with electric space propulsion engines. The role ensures their performance and integration into propulsion systems.
The Fluidics Engineer contributes to all phases of development, from specification to validation, working closely with the Mechanical & Thermal department, other technical departments when required, and suppliers.
Fluidic Design and Architecture
- Design fluidic circuits for propulsion systems.
- Size fluidic components, including pressure regulators, control devices, and fluid transport lines.
- Define technical solutions that ensure stability, fluid cleanliness, and compatibility with other materials.
Modelling and Simulation
- Perform CFD simulations to understand internal phenomena, including fluid flows, pressure, and thermal effects.
- Model propulsion system performance.
- Investigate critical phenomena, including flow fluctuations, instabilities, and contamination.
- Correlate numerical models with manufacturer data and test results.
Specifications and Documentation
- Write fluidic specifications for equipment and systems.
- Contribute to requirements traceability from design through validation.
- Produce compliance matrices, calculation notes, and fluidic justification files.
- Prepare and present Design Justification Documents (DJD) for project milestones, including PDR, CDR, and QRR.
Validation and Testing
- Define the fluidic tests to be performed.
- Monitor test preparation and execution.
- Analyse test results and update fluidic models for correlation.
- Document the associated justifications in accordance with ECSS standards.
Project Support and Interfaces
- Communicate with component suppliers, including suppliers of valves, high-pressure lines, and pressure regulators.
- Participate in the analysis of non-conformities and the management of fluidics-related deviations.
