About the role
We’re looking for an experienced sales leader to drive our growth in the European structured notes market. Luma is already active in Europe, with offices in Zurich and Lisbon, and the successful candidate will be responsible for accelerating growth across the region and establishing Luma as the independent, multi-issuer platform of choice for European distributors of structured notes.
Luma is a leading structured notes platform across the United States, Latin America, and Europe. In this role you will lead the commercial strategy and its execution: identifying and winning distribution clients through complex, multi-stakeholder software sales cycles, and partnering with our regional client management and service teams on ongoing client management once accounts are live.
Success in this role depends on a strong existing network across the European structured notes market, deep knowledge of structured products, and a proven ability to sell software platforms to financial institutions.
What you'll do
Market Development and Growth
- Lead the execution of Luma’s European expansion strategy and drive revenue growth across the region’s structured notes market.
- Identify, pursue, and win new distribution clients across Europe, including private banks, wealth managers, external and independent asset managers, family offices, and other distributors of notes.
- Build and manage a qualified pipeline of prospects with disciplined forecasting, and set commercial priorities by market and segment.
Platform Sales Execution
- Own the full sales cycle for enterprise software opportunities, from prospecting and qualification through product demonstrations, RFPs, commercial negotiation, contracting, and handover to onboarding.
- Navigate multi-stakeholder buying processes, engaging senior decision-makers across front office, trading, IT, operations, risk, compliance, and procurement.
- Manage sales cycles that typically run 6–18 months, including proofs of concept or pilots where relevant.
- Work with Technology and Operations to scope integrations with clients’ booking, core banking, and order management systems.
Distributor Relationships and Issuer Engagement
- Deepen and expand existing relationships across buy-side distributors, including banks, private banks, and independent wealth and asset managers.
- Build relationships with structured notes issuers active in Europe and coordinate issuer-related initiatives with Luma’s head of issuer relations.
- Serve as the interface between European clients and the Luma team.
Market Positioning and Advocacy
- Champion Luma’s multi-issuer, independent approach to platform technology with European distributors of structured notes.
- Monitor market dynamics, product innovation, and regulatory developments across Europe (for example MiFID II, PRIIPs, FinSA, and local requirements) to refine Luma’s positioning.
- Represent Luma at industry events, conferences, and client forums across Europe to build brand presence and market credibility.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with Luma’s regional client management and service teams on ongoing client management and service for European accounts once they are live.
- Work with Product, Technology, Operations, and other involved teams to ensure smooth onboarding and client success, including any region- or country-specific platform requirements.
- Act as the voice of the European client, providing actionable feedback to inform product development, platform enhancements, and workflow priorities.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in structured products sales, distribution, or relationship management, and/or software sales to financial institutions.
- Proven track record of selling software or technology platforms to banks, wealth managers, or other financial institutions, including leading complex sales cycles with formal procurement through to close.
- Strong working knowledge of structured products: payoff structures, pricing mechanics, lifecycle events, and the trade workflow from RFQ through maturity.
- Extensive relationships across buy-side distributors of notes in Europe, including private banks, wealth managers, external and independent asset managers, and family offices.
- Relationships with structured notes issuers active in Europe are an advantage.
- Familiarity with the European market landscape, including the regulatory framework for distributing structured products (such as MiFID II, PRIIPs/KID, and FinSA in Switzerland) and the distribution of capital-protected notes, reverse convertibles, autocallables, and tracker certificates.
- Exceptional communication skills and fluency in English required; German, Swiss German, French, and/or Italian are a strong plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. CFA, CAIA, CISI, or other relevant industry designations a plus.
- Willingness to travel regularly across Europe for client meetings and industry events.
