THE OPPORTUNITY
We are recruiting a Global Head of Health Economics & Reimbursement (HE&R) to serve as the functional leader for our Electrophysiology business. This leader is a member of both the functional and business unit leadership teams and is accountable for developing and executing global health economics, reimbursement and market access strategies across the full product lifecycle.
The Global Head of HE&R will lead the development and execution of global HE&R strategy through a network of direct, indirect, regional and cross-functional resources. The role will partner extensively with business, clinical, medical affairs, regulatory, commercial, finance and regional leadership teams to enable patient access, optimize business performance and support sustainable portfolio growth globally.
This role serves as the senior access lead for payer management, country-specific reimbursement strategy, appeals capabilities, policy-informed growth planning and access readiness for portfolio and pipeline expansion, including acquired technologies.
Location: Plymouth, MN, Austin, TX or Santa Clara, California
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
Business and Strategic Leadership
- Serve as a member of the Electrophysiology business unit and functional leadership teams, shaping product, franchise and business strategy globally, including clinical and real-world evidence generation, regulatory planning, commercialization and market development.
- Provide strategic direction and represent the payer, provider and health-system economic customer perspective in portfolio development, reimbursement strategy and commercialization decisions.
- Shape electrophysiology access strategy by translating payer, coverage and country-specific reimbursement requirements into executable business growth plans.
- Partner with business and finance leaders to incorporate reimbursement, policy, evidence and adoption considerations into strategic planning and portfolio investment decisions.
- Advise business leadership on international expansion, payer risks, policy constraints, acquisition integration and market-specific access readiness.
- Coordinate cross-functional execution across commercial, clinical, medical affairs, regulatory, finance, regional teams and external coalitions to support growth objectives.
Global HE&R Strategy and Lifecycle Leadership
- Lead integrated global access, reimbursement, health economic and policy strategies across the full product lifecycle, from innovation planning and clinical development through commercialization, expansion and lifecycle optimization.
- Organize and lead cross-functional teams to develop health economic value messaging, reimbursement and coverage strategies based on a deep understanding of physicians, practice managers, providers, payers and health systems.
- Develop market-specific reimbursement strategies for existing technologies, pipeline assets and acquisition-based opportunities.
- Build payer management, coverage, prior authorization, appeals and access-enablement capabilities tailored to countries with inconsistent reimbursement and variable evidence requirements.
- Support international growth through local market access planning, coalition engagement, reimbursement customization and market-specific commercialization support.
- Evaluate market opportunities based on coverage availability, evidence thresholds, budget constraints, self-pay dynamics and the feasibility of executable access pathways.
- Elevate access literacy among functional leaders and program teams to enable earlier and more effective consideration of reimbursement, evidence and economic requirements in the product lifecycle.
Functional Leadership and Capability Building
- Lead and develop a global HE&R organization and network accountable for evidence generation, reimbursement strategy, policy engagement, market development, pricing support and access execution.
- Set direction for regional and country HE&R teams managing coding, coverage, payment, evidence and access execution across geographies.
- Build and sustain strong capabilities across HEOR, advocacy, policy, payer management, appeals and field reimbursement support to meet the needs of the business and patients.
- Foster collaboration across commercial, clinical, medical affairs, regulatory, finance and regional teams to plan for and accelerate patient access and sustainable growth.
- Develop talent, strengthen organizational capabilities and build succession plans across the global HE&R network.
External Stakeholder Leadership
- Lead strategic relationships with providers, payers, government agencies and other health economic decision makers to improve access and inform reimbursement pathways.
- Engage provider groups, patient and professional coalitions, regional decision makers and local policy stakeholders to improve access consistency.
- Build and manage relationships with therapy-area coalitions, payer stakeholders and professional organizations that influence coverage, reimbursement and adoption.
- Represent Abbott in senior-level external engagements and lead strategic payer and policy relationships globally, as appropriate.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
Required

- Demonstrated success leading global, cross-functional teams and influencing senior executives, including C-suite engagement on access strategy.
- Strong experience customizing payer and reimbursement strategies across country-specific access environments.
- Demonstrated ability to support growth through payer relationships, coalition engagement and market-enablement capabilities.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to inform international expansion, acquisition integration, adoption, reimbursement and portfolio investment decisions.
