About this role
We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on SAP Warehouse Management (WM) Specialist who can hit the ground running and make an immediate impact on warehouse operations, inventory accuracy, and SAP-enabled material movement processes. The ideal candidate is a strong functional and technical problem-solver with deep, practical SAP WM expertise and experience working directly with warehouse personnel, distribution teams, and operational leadership.
This individual must understand how SAP WM supports real-world warehouse activities, from receiving and putaway through replenishment, picking, packing, inventory control, and shipping. Experience with handheld RF scanning devices is strongly preferred, particularly Zebra barcode scanners and mobile computers used in SAP-integrated warehouse environments.
We are looking for a proven performer who can troubleshoot complex warehouse issues, optimize existing processes, support system enhancements, and work effectively with both IT and warehouse operations teams. This is not an entry-level or purely theoretical SAP role. We need a seasoned professional who can take ownership, resolve issues independently, and deliver results in a fast-paced operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. SAP Warehouse Management (WM)
- Provide hands-on functional expertise in SAP Warehouse Management (WM), supporting day-to-day warehouse operations and ongoing system improvements.
- Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize SAP WM functionality in alignment with business and operational requirements.
- Support end-to-end warehouse processes, including:
Inbound deliveries, goods receipt, and receiving.
- Putaway strategies, storage bins, and storage type configuration.
- Inventory movements, transfer orders, and transfer requirements.
- Replenishment, picking, packing, staging, and shipping.
- Physical inventory, cycle counting, and inventory reconciliation.
- Handling units, material movements, and warehouse stock accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve SAP WM errors, failed transactions, inventory discrepancies, and warehouse process bottlenecks.
- Analyze and resolve issues involving transfer orders, storage bins, stock placement, movement types, picking strategies, and warehouse task execution.
- Support the integration of SAP WM with other SAP modules, including Materials Management (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD), and Inventory Management (IM).
- Partner with business users to identify process gaps and implement practical, sustainable improvements.
- Assist with testing, validation, documentation, and deployment of SAP WM changes and enhancements.
2. RF Scanning and Zebra Handheld Devices
- Support SAP-integrated handheld RF scanning and barcode scanning solutions used throughout warehouse operations.
- Troubleshoot connectivity, scanning, transaction-processing, device configuration, and SAP communication issues.
- Support Zebra handheld scanners and mobile computers, including device setup, configuration, application access, and operational troubleshooting.
- Ensure reliable communication between scanning devices, warehouse applications, and SAP WM transactions.
- Troubleshoot barcode-reading issues, incorrect scan results, failed confirmations, delayed transaction updates, and device-related workflow interruptions.
- Support RF-enabled warehouse processes such as receiving, putaway, bin transfers, replenishment, picking, packing, and inventory counting.
- Work with warehouse personnel to ensure scanning workflows are intuitive, accurate, and efficient.
- Coordinate with infrastructure, networking, mobility, and application support teams when issues extend beyond SAP WM.
- Assist with testing new or replacement handheld devices, barcode formats, RF workflows, and system enhancements.
Preferred experience: Zebra handheld scanners and mobile computers, SAP RF transactions, SAP Console, RF menu configuration, and SAP ITS Mobile or comparable SAP-connected mobile warehouse solutions.
3. Warehouse Operations and Process Optimization
- Work directly with warehouse supervisors, inventory control teams, shipping and receiving personnel, and operations management.
- Translate operational requirements into effective SAP WM configurations and system-supported workflows.
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, picking efficiency, warehouse throughput, and transaction reliability.
- Investigate recurring operational issues and perform root-cause analysis rather than relying solely on workarounds.
- Help standardize warehouse processes, improve user adoption, and reduce manual intervention.
- Support warehouse go-lives, process changes, system upgrades, and operational improvement initiatives as required.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, troubleshooting procedures, and end-user instructions.
- Provide hands-on support during critical warehouse operating periods and help minimize business disruption.
4. Troubleshooting, Testing, and Support
- Serve as a senior escalation point for complex SAP WM and RF scanning issues.
- Analyze application errors, transaction logs, configuration problems, and process failures.
- Collaborate with SAP functional teams, ABAP developers, integration teams, and infrastructure support as needed.
- Develop test scenarios and execute functional, integration, and regression testing.
- Validate that SAP WM changes work correctly across warehouse transactions and connected scanning devices.
- Support incident management, issue prioritization, defect resolution, and production stabilization.
- Document root causes, corrective actions, and preventive measures to reduce repeat incidents.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on SAP Warehouse Management (WM) experience, preferably in a manufacturing, distribution, logistics, or high-volume warehouse environment.
- Strong understanding of SAP WM configuration, warehouse structures, storage types, storage sections, storage bins, and movement processes.
- Demonstrated experience supporting end-to-end warehouse operations within SAP.
- Strong knowledge of inbound and outbound processing, putaway, picking, replenishment, transfer orders, and physical inventory.
- Experience troubleshooting SAP WM production issues and resolving operational problems independently.
- Practical experience supporting RF scanning, barcode scanning, or mobile warehouse transactions.
- Ability to work directly with warehouse operators and translate business problems into SAP solutions.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to business-critical warehouse issues.
- Proven ability to take ownership of assignments and deliver results with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Zebra handheld scanners, mobile computers, and barcode-scanning equipment.
- Experience integrating Zebra devices with SAP WM or SAP-connected warehouse applications.
- Knowledge of SAP RF framework, RF transactions, SAP Console, ITS Mobile, or comparable RF solutions.
- Experience with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA warehouse processes.
- Familiarity with SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), particularly where WM and EWM processes overlap or where a migration is planned.
- Experience with SAP MM, IM, SD, and related inventory or logistics integrations.
- Experience with warehouse mobility platforms, barcode label printing, and scanning middleware.
- Familiarity with wireless network connectivity and troubleshooting handheld device communication issues.
- Experience supporting warehouse implementations, upgrades, migrations, and operational cutovers.
- SAP configuration, testing, functional specification, and user training experience.
