Software Engineer

Job Title: Software Engineer Job Description Join a dynamic Agile Scrum development team where you will participate daily in Agile ceremonies. You will develop software for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system, leveraging technologies, frameworks, and approaches such as security enhancements, containers, and cloud technologies. Your role will involve analyzing commercial and government data specifications and developing complex software primarily in C++ and other programming languages. You will also integrate third-party applications into software solutions and collaborate with testers, field engineers, and team members to enhance development processes. Responsibilities

- Participate in daily Agile Scrum ceremonies within the development team.
- Develop software for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system.
- Utilize technologies such as security enhancements, containers, and cloud technologies.
- Analyze commercial and government data specifications.
- Develop complex software primarily in C++.
- Integrate third-party applications into software solutions.
- Collaborate with testers, field engineers, and team members to improve development processes.

Essential Skills

- Proficiency in C++, shell scripting, XML, Gitlab, VMWare, Eclipse, and Linux.
- Understanding of object-oriented principles and design patterns.
- Experience with software engineering tools including configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers.
- Familiarity with the full software engineering lifecycle.
- Experience with container-based development using Kubernetes and Podman.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- BS degree in computer science, math, or engineering with 3-5 years of recent software development experience or an MS with 1-2 years of experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
- Knowledge of Agile development processes.
- Exposure to Security Enhanced Red Hat Linux.
- Experience with additional programming languages such as Go, Rust, or C#.
- Understanding of secure coding practices and test-driven development.
- Familiarity with public-key cryptography.
- Awareness of NCDSMO Raise The Bar (RTB) requirements.

Work Environment The role may allow for remote work, but candidates must be located within the Rome, NY area. The work environment involves collaboration within a team setting, using technologies such as Kubernetes, Podman, and Red Hat Linux. The position requires adherence to secure coding practices and may involve interfacing with various development tools and technologies.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $72000.00 - $125000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
