Assignment Period: 26 October 2026 – 31 August 2028

About the Role

Sperton is looking for an experienced In-Vehicle Test Engineer – ADAS for a client in Gothenburg. In this role, you will contribute to the verification and validation of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), focusing on real-world driving situations and complete-vehicle testing.

You will plan, prepare, execute, and document physical tests in vehicles, on proving grounds, and on public roads. Your work will help evaluate system functionality, performance, robustness, usability, and the overall customer driving experience.

Working closely with software developers, system engineers, test leads, and other stakeholders, you will analyze test results, investigate deviations, and provide actionable feedback to improve the safety, reliability, and performance of advanced vehicle functions.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys working close to vehicles and combining practical testing with technical analysis.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, prepare, execute, and document in-vehicle tests for ADAS and active safety functions.
- Conduct physical testing in complete vehicles, on proving grounds, and on public roads.
- Prepare test setups, test objects, driving routes, and test scenarios.
- Verify and validate function behavior under different driving conditions.
- Evaluate system performance, robustness, availability, comfort, usability, and customer experience.
- Define test scenarios, pass/fail criteria, and structured test reports.
- Analyze vehicle logs and test results to investigate issues and support root-cause analysis.
- Identify deviations and communicate clear, actionable feedback to development teams.
- Collaborate with function developers, system designers, software engineers, test leads, fleet coordinators, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Use rig, simulation, or automated verification environments when appropriate to complement physical vehicle testing.

What We're Looking For

- A bachelor's or master's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation and Control, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on experience with complete-vehicle testing, preferably within ADAS, active safety, automated driving, or customer-facing vehicle functions.
- Experience planning, preparing, executing, and documenting physical vehicle tests.
- Understanding of verification and validation methods, test scenarios, pass/fail criteria, and deviation handling.
- Familiarity with automotive testing tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape, INCA, DLT, or equivalent tools.
- A valid Swedish B driving license and confidence performing structured tests in real vehicles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across technical disciplines and communicate findings clearly.

Preferred Experience

- Experience with ADAS functions, collision avoidance, active safety, driver assistance, or automated driving.
- Basic scripting or automation skills, particularly Python.
- Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), rigs, or simulation-based testing.
- Familiarity with CI/CD-based verification workflows.
- Experience evaluating function availability, driver comfort, usability, and real-world driving behavior.
