Freedom Detox with Pyramid Healthcare is seeking a dependable and experienced Part-Time Cook to join our team in Gastonia, NC. If you enjoy preparing quality meals, take pride in maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others, we encourage you to apply.
Our kitchen prepares meals for approximately 18–22 clients per meal in a supportive detox and behavioral healthcare environment. As a Cook, you will play an important role in providing nutritious, high-quality meals to individuals as they focus on their recovery.
Open availability is required , including flexibility to work varying shifts based on kitchen and program needs.
What You'll Do
As a Cook, you will prepare, cook, and serve nutritious meals while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized kitchen.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to established menus, recipes, and dietary requirements.
- Ensure meals are prepared on time while maintaining quality, consistency, and presentation.
- Follow standardized recipes and portion-control guidelines.
- Accommodate special dietary needs when required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen in accordance with food safety standards.
- Monitor and document food and equipment temperatures.
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Receive, rotate, and properly store food and kitchen supplies.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance concerns.
- Complete routine cleaning, inventory, and kitchen documentation.
- Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach when interacting with clients, visitors, and team members.
- Follow applicable health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Participate in required training and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and kitchen safety.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy kitchen environment.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts based on program needs.
Preferred:
- Five (5) years of kitchen or commercial food service experience.
- Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, institutional, or high-volume food service.
- ServSafe Certification or willingness to obtain certification after hire.
