About this role
Description
Every time a customer checks whether a deal is real or asks what a product cost last month, they rely on systems your team builds and operates. Amazon's Price Memory team owns the authoritative record of the prices customers saw and paid, and provides the historical price inputs that determine whether a deal is valid. This data feeds into customer-facing experiences and internal tools across Amazon. We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead this team as it simplifies legacy validation systems, partners closely with customer experience teams, and moves toward a future where customers can independently verify savings claims.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead and grow a software development team responsible for Price Memory's pricing data systems, providing coaching, mentorship, and career development support while building an inclusive team culture.
- Own the technical vision and product roadmap for Price Memory's data platform and deal validation services, balancing near-term delivery with the longer-term goal of deprecating legacy systems and converging on a simpler architecture.
- Drive data quality and operational readiness across multiple deployment pipelines, establishing metrics and audit mechanisms that keep pricing data accurate and reliable for customers, Selling Partners, and internal consumers.
- Coordinate closely with experience teams and retail partners to define requirements, prioritize initiatives, and deliver high-quality software across the full lifecycle from design through deployment.
- Evaluate where generative artificial intelligence tools can augment team productivity and data quality workflows, applying responsible practices to ensure sound outcomes.
A day in the life
You start your morning reviewing data quality dashboards and operational metrics for your deployment pipelines, then sync with your engineers on sprint progress. Mid-morning, you join a design review where the team is working through how to retire a legacy validation path without disrupting downstream consumers. After lunch, you meet with customer experience and retail partner teams to align on cross-team dependencies and upcoming feature needs. Later, you hold a one-on-one with a direct report, discussing their growth goals and identifying stretch opportunities. You close the day connected to the details that keep pricing data trustworthy for millions of customers.
