About Fervo Energy

Fervo Energy (NASDAQ: FRVO) is a modern power company developing next-generation geothermal resources to meet the growing demand for affordable, reliable, 24/7 carbon-free energy. Our mission is to transform geothermal into America’s most dependable and affordable source of clean, around-the-clock power. By combining innovations in horizontal drilling, fiber-optic sensing, and advanced reservoir engineering, Fervo has developed a repeatable approach to building utility-scale enhanced geothermal systems. Our flagship Cape Station development in Utah is planned to deliver 500 MW of firm, carbon-free power, and we are advancing a development pipeline of more than 50 GW. Join us and work alongside world-class engineers, geoscientists, operators, project builders, and business leaders working to make geothermal a cornerstone of a more reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy future.

Position Description

Fervo Energy is the world’s leading developer of enhanced geothermal systems, deploying directional drilling, fiber optic sensing, and advanced well completions to deliver firm carbon-free power 24/7. Fervo is scaling rapidly across the U.S. to meet growing demand from utilities, industrials, and data centers for clean, dispatchable electricity. Fabricated structural steel and piping are two of the largest bulk material categories on every plant, and how we buy them has a direct effect on construction schedule and cost.

As Supply Chain Specialist for steel and piping, you will own this category. You will set the strategy for how Fervo buys fabricated structural steel and piping, and you will run the packages yourself from first market engagement through PO. This is a strategy role as much as a hands-on procurement role. You will be a thought partner to supply chain and project leadership on how we source, contract, and plan for steel across our build-out. Over time, there is room to take Fervo further upstream into buying raw steel from mills and service centers.

You will report to the Supply Chain Manager, Power. This is an individual contributor role.

Responsibilities

Category Strategy

- Build Fervo’s category strategy for fabricated structural steel and piping: which fabricators we work with, how much capacity we commit, and when we use frame agreements instead of buying project by project.

- Track the steel and pipe markets, including mill pricing, fabricator backlog and capacity, tariffs, and domestic content rules, and turn what you learn into recommendations leadership can act on.

- Build should-cost models so we know what a fair price looks like before bids come in.

- Evaluate when it makes sense for Fervo to buy raw steel directly and free-issue it to fabricators, and build the business case.

Specifications and Technical

- Work with engineering to understand how specifications drive cost, lead time, and the number of shops that can bid. Material grades, connection design, coatings, inspection and NDE requirements, and traceability all matter.

- Build quality requirements, such as inspection and test plans and mill test reports, into RFQs so they are priced up front.

- Build tariff and domestic content requirements into sourcing decisions.

Market to Contract

- Own steel and piping packages from market engagement through award: prequalification, RFQ, bid leveling, negotiation, and PO.

- Engage fabricators on lead time and capacity early, before drawings are final, so procurement timing supports the construction schedule.

- Write bid packages that produce comparable quotes, including when lead time starts (PO or approved shop drawings), what the price per pound covers (detailing, coatings, galvanizing, freight), and how long quotes stay valid.

- Negotiate commercial terms including price basis and escalation, lead time commitments, payment milestones, delivery in tranches, warranty, and liquidated damages.

- Manage contracts after award, including tracking fabricator progress and deliveries against schedule, handling change orders and claims, and maintaining long-term relationships with vendors.

Qualifications

Required

There is no single background we’re looking for. What matters most is that you know this industry well. Strong candidates will have several of the following qualifications:

- A working understanding of how mills, service centers, detailers, and fabricators operate, how they price, and what drives their lead times.

- 3+ years of experience buying, selling, or estimating fabricated structural steel or piping. That could be procurement at an EPC or owner, purchasing or estimating at a fabricator, or a commercial role at a mill or distributor.

- The ability to read drawings and specifications and explain how a spec choice changes cost, lead time, and the bidder pool.

- Comfort building a strategy, defending it to leadership with data, and then running the RFQ yourself.

Preferred

- Experience with AISC-certified fabricators.

- Experience on power generation, manufacturing, or heavy industrial projects.

- Experience with tariffs, domestic content, or Buy America requirements.

- Experience negotiating frame agreements or buying for a multi-project program.

- Experience buying raw steel directly from mills.

Location

Fervo Energy has offices in Houston, TX, Golden, CO, Reno, NV, Oakland, CA, and Salt Lake City, UT. This position is based in Fervo’s Houston HQ, with occasional travel to fabrication shops, mills, and Cape Station.
