About this role

In this Advisory Business Strategy & Intelligence role, you’ll help clients and internal partners across State Street Investment Management tackle complex challenges, shape strategic responses, and translate insight into action. Working across institutional, intermediary, retirement, wealth management, and platform relationships, you’ll combine strategic advisory thinking with differentiated investor and industry intelligence to develop original perspectives, practical recommendations, and high-impact client engagements.

The role is designed for someone who can move fluidly across different client types and initiatives — from shaping research-driven points of view and advising a wealth management firm on practice management challenges to translating emerging investor and industry trends into implications for institutional and intermediary audiences. In each setting, you’ll help turn ideas and evidence into practical applications for clients and the business.

Success requires the ability to independently shape and lead complex initiatives, create original intellectual capital, engage senior clients and internal stakeholders, and bring together the right expertise to advance work across client engagements, business priorities, and regions.

What Success Looks Like

- Lead senior advisory and practice management engagements with wealth management firms, financial advisors, and other financial-services clients by diagnosing complex challenges, shaping the problem, and helping clients move toward practical decisions and action.

- Drive investor and industry intelligence initiatives , from strategic positioning and question framing through interpretation, synthesis, point of view, and application.

- Create differentiated intellectual capital and advisory solutions that combine evidence, industry perspective, and advisory judgement to produce original thinking, frameworks, and points of view.

- Take point on complex initiatives with autonomy , establishing direction, determining the right mix of expertise, and coordinating work from stakeholder briefings through market release and sales enablement — without requiring step-by-step oversight.

- Strengthen practice management and broader advisory thinking by applying senior judgement to frameworks, methodologies, and strategic approaches and partnering with practice management consultants on solution development and client applications.

- Represent the team credibly with senior clients and internal stakeholders , including executive discussions, research conversations, advisory engagements, workshops, conferences, and other high-value forums.

- Create leverage across the team by setting a high-quality bar, providing substantive coaching and review, and enabling colleagues to take meaningful ownership rather than personally leading every component.

What We’re Looking For

- 6+ years of relevant experience in wealth management, financial-services consulting, advisory strategy, practice management, investor or industry intelligence, asset management, or a related field, with demonstrated progression in scope and responsibility.

- Demonstrated experience working with or advising wealth management firms, financial advisors, intermediary organizations, or related financial services businesses on strategic, practice management, client-engagement, growth, or operating challenges.

- Strong consulting and problem-solving capability, including the ability to diagnose ambiguous business issues, develop a point of view, challenge assumptions, and translate thinking into practical recommendations.

- Proven ability to use research, data, and industry intelligence as inputs to strategy and to create original intellectual capital, clear narratives, practical frameworks, and client-ready advisory solutions.

- Demonstrated ability to lead complex initiatives independently and engage credibly with senior clients and internal stakeholders, including through consultations, workshops, executive discussions, and presentations.

Strong candidates bring capability across five dimensions:

- Senior Consultant — Frames complex business challenges, facilitates productive senior-level conversations, challenges assumptions, and helps clients move toward practical decisions and action.

- Business Strategist — Understands how wealth management firms and financial services businesses grow, operate, differentiate, serve clients, and adapt to changing markets.

- Intelligence Translator — Uses research, data, and industry intelligence to identify implications, shape a point of view, and inform advisory strategy and client action.

- Content & Solutions Creator — Develops original frameworks, presentations, discussion guides, playbooks, and other client-ready resources from ideas through application.

- Enterprise Leader — Leads complex, concurrent initiatives with autonomy, brings together the right contributors, manages priorities and risks, and creates leverage by enabling others to take meaningful ownership.

Additional Qualifications

- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.

- Experience working collaboratively across multiple business functions.

- Bachelor’s degree required.

- CFP®, CFA®, MBA, CIMA®, CEPA®, CPWA®, or similar professional designations valued but not required.

Salary Range:
$110,000 - $188,750 Annual
