What you’ll be doing...

You’ll be finding the right technology to help ensure our enterprise identity systems remain secure and spot risks before they become real threats. You’ll manage, maintain, and enhance our enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) infrastructure, protecting systems, defending access points, and safeguarding our business, brand, and bottom line.

- Managing the full lifecycle (upgrades, patching, configuration) of enterprise IAM platforms, including PingAccess, Ping Identity Gateway, and custom login pages hosted on Apache/Tomcat.
- Executing SRE operations including automated server patching (OS, JDK, Java), continuous alert monitoring, incident remediation, and maintaining high-availability standards.
- Driving security posture and vulnerability management through Tenable vulnerability scans, SAST (Fortify), DAST, OSS library scanning, and AI-driven penetration testing.
- Designing and deploying authentication modules using Python, Java, Angular, and Spring Boot to support Zero Trust requirements, advanced MFA, and risk-based authentication workflows.
- Leveraging AI tools (such as Claude, Gemini etc.) for operational efficiency and automation across IAM workflows.
- Supporting key IAM initiatives including Zero Trust application migrations, Passkey adoption, and authentication resiliency.
- Integrating SSO applications and troubleshooting complex authentication and identity issues to maintain seamless access and high availability.

What we’re looking for...

You’re driven to pinpoint a problem and tenacious about finding a solution. You’re organized and pay attention to details. You are the person that others rely on. You are accountable and follow through with a sense of urgency.

You’ll need to have:

- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Four or more years of relevant work experience in Security Engineering, IAM Infrastructure, or Single Sign-On (SSO) technologies.
- Experience with enterprise identity Access platforms, vulnerability remediation, and SRE operations.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

- A degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Engineering.
- Strong experience with security risk procedures, security patterns, authentication technologies (PingAccess, Ping Identity Gateway, SiteMinder), and Zero Trust frameworks.
- Hands-on development experience with Python, Java, Angular, and Spring Boot for custom authentication workflows.
- Experience with automated vulnerability scanning tools (Tenable, Fortify, DAST, OSS scanning) and pen testing.
- Knowledge of or experience with AI-assisted development and automation tools (Claude, Gemini etc.).
- Certifications in security, network, or architecture (e.g., CISSP, CEH, Security+).

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every "even better" qualification listed above.
