About this role

Position : Conveyancing Paralegal

Salary : £1,000 per month

Working Hours : UK business hours

Holidays : UK public holidays

About the Role:

We are seeking an adaptable, highly reliable Conveyancing Paralegal to join our UK based client as a dedicated, full-time remote team member based in South Africa or the Philippines.

Our UK based client is an established East London law firm handling approximately 100 residential conveyancing matters per month. To relieve pressure across the department, free up existing UK fee earners, and ensure seamless service, the firm is creating a flexible, "floating" offshore conveyancing resource.

In this role, you will act as an essential operational engine—supporting multiple fee earners, taking complete ownership of routine and post-completion work across the department, and stepping in to cover active caseloads during periods of high volume or annual leave under UK supervision. Whether assisting with initial searches, reviewing documents, or managing post-completion requirements, you will take work away from the team without creating additional management burden.

Key Responsibilities

Core Conveyancing Support & Departmental Workflow

- Floating Fee-Earner Support: Move seamlessly across multiple fee earners' files, providing operational support where demand is highest across sales, purchases, re-mortgages, and transfers of equity.
- Searches & File Setup : Order, track, and perform initial reviews of property search packages (local authority, environmental, drainage) and ensure onboarding compliance documents (KYC/AML, TA forms) are logged.
- Legal Drafting : Prepare standard contracts, transfers of title (TR1), property questionnaires, and mortgage documentation under UK fee-earner guidance.

Department-Wide Post-Completion Ownership

- End-to-End Post-Completion : Take complete ownership of post-completion duties across the entire firm, including preparing completion statements, drafting and submitting SDLT returns, and submitting Land Registry applications (AP1).
- Requisition Management: Monitor and respond to Land Registry requisitions promptly, ensuring clear title registration without delays.

Caseload Coverage & Continuity

- Active File Progressions: Substantially progress active conveyancing files under supervision, keeping matters moving when fee earners are away on leave or experiencing workload spikes.
- Multi-Party Communication: Communicate clearly, professionally, and articulately with UK colleagues, estate agents, lenders, redemption departments, and opposing conveyancers.

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

- England & Wales Conveyancing Experience (Essential): Direct, practical experience handling residential conveyancing specifically under English and Welsh law. (General SA/PH legal qualifications without UK conveyancing experience will not be considered).
- Full Process Knowledge : Thorough understanding of the complete UK conveyancing lifecycle—from file opening, search ordering, and contract drafting to exchange, completion, and post-completion.
- Post-Completion Competence : Proven track record of independently handling AP1 Land Registry submissions, SDLT filings, and resolving requisitions.
- Case Management Tech : Confident operating legal Case Management Systems (CMS) and keeping digital audit trails up to date.
- Ego-Free & Adaptable Attitude : Zero hesitation towards administrative tasks; comfortable serving as a floating resource supporting multiple team members.
- Professional Communication: Clear, articulate spoken and written English, suited for professional collaboration with UK legal teams and third parties.

What Success Looks Like

The firm's UK fee earners have significantly more time to focus on complex legal matters and firm growth; post-completion tasks are executed flawlessly on time; caseloads progress uninterrupted during staff absences; and the department operates smoothly without creating added management oversight for the Managing Directors.
