Senior Payroll Analyst – Nordics
Ready to take Nordic payroll to the next level? Join Stryker’s Nordic HR team in Malmö and combine your payroll expertise with the opportunity to drive automation, simplify processes and help build a future-ready payroll function.
The position
As Senior Payroll Analyst, you will help deliver accurate, timely and compliant payroll for more than 250 employees across Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. Based in Malmö, you will partner with Nordic HR colleagues, Finance, Centres of Excellence teams and external payroll providers to keep payroll running smoothly. Alongside day-to-day delivery, you will be a trusted payroll expert, lead improvement initiatives and contribute to digitalisation projects that strengthen data quality, reduce manual work and make processes more efficient.
The Nordic HR department is part of the Northern EU HR team. Together, we set shared standards and support more than 1,100 employees across the region through close collaboration. You will report to the Senior Manager Human Resources, who is also based in Malmö.
Your collaboration will extend across EMEA, where you will work with a broad range of stakeholders in a dynamic matrix organisation. Together, you will share best practices, improve ways of working and implement relevant EU directives in payroll processes, taking local legal requirements into account.
Your key responsibilities:
Deliver reliable Nordic payroll:
- Manage and coordinate Nordic payroll with external payroll providers, ensuring accurate and timely delivery in line with local legislation, company policies and approval requirements.
- Review, validate and reconcile payroll inputs and results, including salary changes, overtime, taxes, deductions, off-cycle payments and final payments. Investigate discrepancies and resolve errors.
- Ensure monthly commission payments and other variable pay are accurately reflected in payroll.
- Coordinate approvals in Cozone, our time recording system, and ensure time data is correctly transferred into payroll.
- Manage absence reporting and related payroll adjustments, maintaining accurate employee data.
- Manage company car inputs for payroll and support employees with questions about tax, mileage reporting and local practices.
Be a trusted payroll expert:
- Provide clear, responsive support to employees and managers. Explain payroll processes and deliver training on routines and requirements.
- Act as a Nordic payroll subject matter expert on pensions, insurance, payroll tax and social security. Monitor relevant regulatory changes and help translate them into compliant payroll practices.
- Manage the relationship with our payroll provider, Azets, working together to resolve issues, improve service and maintain an efficient payroll process.
- Ensure updates to benefits providers are complete and accurate, and provide backup for payroll colleagues during absences.
Partner closely with Finance:
- Work closely with Finance on payroll reconciliations, reporting and controls. Align timelines, responsibilities and handovers to ensure a smooth payroll process and reliable financial data.
- Reconcile monthly net pay and pension data against final payroll reports, investigate differences and work with Finance and payroll providers to resolve them.
- Lead payroll-related audits and coordinate responses to auditors and external partners, maintaining clear documentation and effective controls.
Drive digitalisation and continuous improvement
- Identify opportunities to automate manual tasks, simplify workflows and harmonise Nordic payroll processes while respecting local requirements.
- Lead and contribute to cross-functional payroll digitalisation and efficiency projects, from mapping current processes and defining requirements to testing, implementation and follow-up.
- Coordinate interfaces between HR systems, payroll systems and external providers. Collaborate with HR, Finance and Centres of Excellence to resolve issues, improve data quality and support new system implementations and payroll integrations following acquisitions.
- Partner with Finance to develop a future-ready payroll structure with clear ownership, consistent controls and efficient information flows. Document improved processes and support colleagues in adopting new ways of working.
Required
- Min two years of professional experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification, such as vocational university/KY education in payroll.
- Payroll experience in at least one Nordic country is required
- Understand payroll regulations, pensions and insurance, and can translate complex requirements into practical, reliable routines.
- Confident using Excel and working with payroll data, and curious about how technology can improve efficiency.
- Fluent in English and at least one of the following languages: Swedish, Danish or Norwegian
- Excellent attention to detail with a service-minded approach and clear communication.
- Can balance payroll deadlines with project work, ask questions when something does not look right and follow issues through to resolution.
- You enjoy working across teams, sharing your expertise and challenging manual routines to find better ways of working.
Preferred
- Experience across several Nordic markets
- Experience with Hogia, Agda, Visma Lön, Epos Lön, Workday or Oracle
- A background in Finance or experience working closely with Finance is preferred. Experience in automation, system implementations or process improvement projects would also be highly valuable.
