Our customers around the world rely on Bloomberg for the data, technology, and tools they need to make investment decisions and operate across the financial markets. Our Global Finance organization partners with Bloomberg’s businesses to provide financial oversight, insight, and thought leadership. We help business leaders understand performance, evaluate opportunities and tradeoffs, and make informed strategic decisions. We are seeking a Senior Finance Specialist to support Bloomberg’s Buy-Side business. This role combines ownership of core FP&A activities with strategic and commercial finance partnership to senior business leaders. You will be responsible for understanding and managing the financial performance of the business, leading planning and forecasting, and translating financial and operational data into insights that inform business decisions. The ideal candidate combines strong FP&A fundamentals with strategic thinking and commercial judgment. You should be equally comfortable owning the financial performance of the business, diving into complex data, and partnering with senior leaders on open-ended strategic and commercial questions. We are looking for someone who is intellectually curious, takes initiative, develops a point of view, and can communicate it succinctly. You will be expected to operate with a high degree of independence and drive work from problem identification through recommendation and execution. We’ll Trust You To: • Own core FP&A activities for the Buy-Side business, including P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, monthly and quarterly performance analysis, management reporting, and long-range planning. • Serve as a strategic finance partner to Buy-Side leadership, providing financial insight, constructive challenge, and recommendations to support key business decisions. • Develop a deep understanding of the business, its financial and operational drivers, and the broader market to connect business activity to financial performance and identify opportunities for growth and improved profitability. • Synthesize complex financial and operational data into a clear point of view on business performance, risks, and opportunities, translating analysis into succinct, actionable recommendations for senior leadership. • Partner with Product and Sales leadership on commercial and strategic decisions, developing financial models and business cases to evaluate pricing, client economics, investments, and growth opportunities. • Take ownership of ambiguous and open-ended business questions, bringing structure to problems and driving work end-to-end from problem definition through analysis, recommendation, and execution. • Develop and continuously improve financial models, dashboards, KPIs, and reporting to provide greater visibility into business performance and support better decision-making. • Partner cross-functionally across Product, Sales, Engineering, Accounting, and Finance while maintaining a high standard of financial accuracy and proactively identifying opportunities to simplify, automate, and improve existing processes. You’ll Need to Have: • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. • 10+ years of finance experience, with strong experience across FP&A activities including budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, financial modeling, and decision support. • Demonstrated experience partnering with and influencing senior business leaders. • Strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities, with the ability to work with large and complex datasets while identifying the insights that matter. • A strategic and commercial mindset, with the ability to connect financial analysis to broader business objectives. • A proactive, ownership-oriented approach, with demonstrated ability to identify what needs to be done, operate with limited direction, and drive work through completion. • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous and fast-moving environments, bringing structure and clarity to open-ended problems. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into succinct, executive-level narratives and recommendations. • Strong judgment, attention to detail, and organizational skills, with the ability to balance recurring FP&A responsibilities with strategic and ad hoc priorities. • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint and experience working with enterprise financial systems such as SAP or Oracle. We’d Love to See: • Experience within financial services, financial technology, enterprise software, or a financial data provider. • Experience supporting a business with a recurring revenue or subscription-based commercial model. • Experience with data visualization and analytics tools such as Qlik or Tableau. • Familiarity with Bloomberg products, the Bloomberg Terminal, or the institutional Buy-Side landscape. • A high level of intellectual curiosity and a desire to understand not just what is happening in the financials, but why it is happening and what the business should do about it.
