Job Description

Workday Integrations Lead

Your Role: Workday Integrations Lead

As the Workday Integrations Lead at Global, you will own the design, build and ongoing health of every integration into and out of our Workday platform, across Financials, HCM, Payroll, Prism Analytics and Adaptive Planning. Reporting to the Director of Group Applications and sitting within the Group Applications team, part of Commercial and Enterprise Technology, you’ll be the technical authority on how data moves between Workday and the rest of Global’s systems, making sure it is accurate, secure, monitored and built to scale.

Key Responsibilities

BAU & Continuous Improvement

- Own Global’s Workday integration landscape end to end, maintaining a complete, documented inventory of every inbound and outbound integration, its owner, schedule and dependencies.
- Monitor integration health, triage failures raised through ServiceNow, and fix root causes rather than repeatedly re-running jobs.
- Build proactive alerting and error handling so failures are caught and acted on before they affect Finance or People & Culture processes.
- Manage integration security, including Integration System Users, security groups, API clients, credential rotation and secure file transfer (SFTP, PGP encryption), in line with Global’s security standards.
- Assess Workday release updates and API version changes for integration impact, and lead the associated regression testing.
- Act as the technical authority for Workday integrations, directing the integration work of our AMS partner (Cloud Rock), contractors and third-party vendors, and acting as their escalation point on incidents and changes.
- Set and enforce integration design standards, naming conventions, documentation, version control and change control for everyone who builds on the platform, including partners and contractors.
- Make sure integration knowledge is documented and shared, so no integration depends on a single person.

Enhancement Projects

- Lead and support Workday integration projects from design to delivery, including requirements gathering, solution design, build, testing (through to end-to-end and parallel runs) and cutover.
- Collaborate closely with Finance, People & Culture and Technology colleagues to deliver integrated, cross-functional solutions.
- Document “as-is” and “to-be” processes and data flows, ensuring clear traceability of requirements and measurable benefits.
- Choose the right tool for each integration across Workday (EIB, Core Connectors, Document Transformation, Workday Studio, Orchestrate, REST and SOAP APIs, Reports-as-a-Service and BIRT), working with XML, XSLT and JSON, and advise when to use Workday-native tools versus Global’s wider integration estate.
- Translate business requirements into technical designs, data mappings and interface specifications that can be built, tested and supported.
- Deliver integrations that bring operational data into Workday automatically, reducing manual journals, re-keying and spreadsheet uploads.
- Shape the integration roadmap, identifying legacy or fragile integrations to retire, consolidate or rebuild.
- Contribute to enterprise architecture discussions so Workday is positioned correctly within Global’s target architecture.

What You’ll Love About This Role

Think Big : You’ll shape how data flows across Global’s core platforms, helping build a connected, future-ready enterprise architecture that can scale with Global’s ambitions.

Own It : You’ll be the go-to authority for Workday integrations, with the autonomy to set standards and the accountability to make them stick.

Keep it Simple : You’ll replace fragile, manual and duplicated data feeds with clean, reliable, well-documented integrations.

Better Together : You’ll work side by side with Finance, People & Culture, Technology and external partners to connect Global’s systems into one joined-up picture.

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

- Built a complete, documented inventory of Global’s Workday integrations, with clear owners and risk ratings.
- Put proactive monitoring and alerting in place for business-critical integrations.
- Reduced repeat integration incidents by fixing root causes.
- Delivered at least one new or rebuilt integration to Global’s agreed standards.
- Established integration design standards and change control adopted by the team and our partners.
- Removed single-person dependency on knowledge of business-critical integrations.
- Built trusted relationships with Finance, People & Culture, Technology and third-party system owners.

What You’ll Need

- Workday Integration Expertise: 5+ years’ hands-on experience designing and building Workday integrations, including Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Document Transformation, Reports-as-a-Service and BIRT.
- Workday Integrations Certification (required): Current Workday Integrations certification.
- APIs & Data Formats: Strong working knowledge of Workday SOAP and REST APIs, XML, XSLT, JSON and secure file transfer (SFTP, PGP encryption).
- Functional Breadth: Solid understanding of Workday Financials, HCM, Payroll and Adaptive Planning data structures and business processes, so integrations work for the people who rely on them.
- Delivery Leadership: A track record of leading the integration workstream on Workday implementations or major enhancement projects, from design through to go-live.
- Engineering Discipline: A rigorous approach to testing, documentation, version control and change management.
- Collaboration & Communication: Excellent stakeholder skills, with the confidence to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical audiences and to hold partners and vendors to account.
- Desirable: Experience with Workday Orchestrate, Extend, Prism Analytics and Accounting Center.
