About this role
At YouGov Shopper , you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining business intelligence solutions that transform complex market research data into actionable business insights. This includes developing robust data models, interactive dashboards, and automated reporting solutions that enable teams to make informed, data-driven decisions.
You will leverage Python, AI technologies, and modern analytics tools to automate data preparation, reporting processes, and data quality controls, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and scalability across reporting environments. Additionally, you will develop and enhance AI-powered capabilities, such as natural language querying, automated insight generation, and intelligent data analysis features, helping stakeholders access and understand data more effectively.
Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff):
- Design, build and maintain interactive dashboards and reports in BI tools following design specifications.
- Build and optimise data models (star schemas, DAX measures/calculated fields), keeping performance and refresh times under control.
- Develop Python scripts and pipelines (pandas, SQL) to extract, clean, transform and validate data from multiple sources.
- Write and optimise SQL queries against relational databases and cloud data warehouses.
- Automate recurring reporting, data quality checks and delivery tasks with Python, reducing manual effort for the DA&I organization.
- Apply AI and LLM tools to BI work: natural-language Q&A over data, automated commentary and insight summaries, anomaly detection and AI-assisted development (e.g., Power BI Copilot, Azure OpenAI, LLM APIs).
- Translate requests from local teams into clear BI requirements, KPIs and solution designs.
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency: reconcile figures, document metric definitions and use version control.
- Update and bug-fix dashboards and reports according to assigned tickets.
- Communication – keep the management team and key stakeholders updated on project progress and issues, and keep project tracking up to date.
- Document data sources, models and solutions, and share best practices within the team.
These are the essentials you’ll need to get an interview:
- Very good skills in BI tools, including data modelling and DAX or calculated fields.
- Strong SQL skills.
- Good Python skills for data work (pandas, NumPy), scripting and automation.
- Understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT and dimensional modelling.
- Experience with, or strong interest in, applying AI/LLMs to analytics: prompting, LLM APIs and AI features in BI tools (e.g., Power BI Copilot).
- Data visualization and dashboard design best practices.
- Very good skills in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Market research and statistical knowledge.
- Git/version control; Microsoft Fabric, Power Automate or cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) are a plus.
- Good level of English (for both oral and written communication).
