About this role

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Job Description The Mechanical Engineer supports the design, development, and testing of electrical distribution products such as switchboards and panelboards. The role focuses on designing mechanical components, assemblies, and enclosures for electrical distribution equipment, including the creation of 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials. Depending on prior industry experience, the Mechanical Engineer will contribute to new product development and custom designs or begin with sustaining design projects that support manufacturing and provide an opportunity to learn the business. Responsibilities

- Design mechanical components, assemblies, and enclosures for electrical distribution equipment such as switchboards, panelboards, and control panels.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models using SolidWorks to support product development and manufacturing.
- Develop clear and accurate manufacturing drawings and associated documentation for production.
- Generate and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) for mechanical designs and assemblies.
- Support new product development and custom design projects for power distribution equipment when bringing relevant industry experience.
- Perform sustaining engineering activities, including print revisions, design changes, and engineering change requests (ECRs) and engineering change orders (ECOs), to support manufacturing operations.
- Apply mechanical engineering principles to the design of sheet metal components and assemblies for electrical products.
- Incorporate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) into drawings to ensure proper fit, function, and manufacturability.
- Use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to evaluate and optimize mechanical designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements for power distribution equipment.
- Support adherence to relevant industry standards, including UL508A, where applicable.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of existing products and processes through thoughtful engineering changes and design enhancements.

Essential Skills

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, with consideration for candidates holding an associate degree in a related field.
- 4+ years of experience using SolidWorks for mechanical design and 3D modeling.
- 4+ years of experience executing engineering changes or design changes, including ECRs and ECOs.
- 4+ years of experience in mechanical design of electrical products such as switchboards, panelboards, switchgear, or control panels.
- 4+ years of experience designing with sheet metal for mechanical or electrical products.
- 4+ years of experience applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to mechanical drawings.
- 4+ years of experience using FEA or CFD tools to analyze and validate mechanical designs.
- Hands-on experience with power distribution equipment, including switchboards, switchgear, busbars, and enclosure design.
- Proficiency in mechanical engineering fundamentals and mechanical design best practices.
- Ability to create detailed 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials for complex assemblies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Familiarity with UL508A standards for industrial control panels is a strong plus.
- Experience designing control panels and control panel layouts for power distribution applications.
- Experience in designing mechanical components and enclosures specifically for power distribution and electrical equipment.
- Experience supporting data center-related projects or power distribution solutions is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple engineering change activities simultaneously.
- Effective collaboration skills to work closely with cross-functional teams in engineering and manufacturing.
- Ability to support both new product development and sustaining engineering efforts as business needs evolve.

Work Environment The role supports a rapidly growing organization with significant work in the data center and power distribution space, offering a steady pipeline of projects and long-term growth opportunities. The position involves regular use of SolidWorks and other engineering tools in an office and engineering lab setting, collaborating closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to support both new product development and ongoing production
