About this Role

Quanta Power Solutions is seeking a motivated Mechanical Designer I to support the development of mechanical layouts, drawings, and construction documentation for power generation, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), data centers, substations, transmission, and industrial infrastructure projects. This entry-level design role works under the guidance of senior engineers and designers to produce high-quality technical deliverables that support EPC project execution from concept through construction.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in drafting and 3D modeling, a willingness to learn complex mechanical systems, and the ability to contribute in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary engineering environment.

What You'll Do

Mechanical Design & Drafting Support

- Assist in the development of mechanical design deliverables for power generation, renewable energy, BESS, data center, and industrial infrastructure projects.

- Prepare and revise:

- Equipment layouts and general arrangement drawings

- Piping layouts and routing drawings

- Mechanical details and fabrication drawings

- Equipment location plans

- Isometric drawings

- Construction and installation drawings • Support development of mechanical systems including:

- Piping systems

- HVAC layouts

- Cooling and auxiliary systems

- Fuel gas and utility systems

- Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment layouts • Incorporate engineering markups, redlines, and design revisions into drawings and models.

3D Modeling & CAD Support

- Develop and update 3D models using project specifications and engineering input.

- Assist with model coordination and clash detection activities.

- Maintain drawing and model consistency across project deliverables.

- Support integration of vendor equipment models into project designs.

- Ensure CAD standards and company drafting guidelines are followed.

Project Execution Support

- Assist engineering and design teams through conceptual, detailed design, and construction phases.

- Support preparation of material take-offs (MTOs) and quantity estimates.

- Help track deliverables and maintain drawing registers.

- Assist in organizing and managing design documentation.

- Support preparation of construction packages and submittals.

Multidisciplinary Coordination

- Coordinate with mechanical engineers, civil, structural, electrical, and I&C teams.

- Participate in design review meetings and coordination sessions.

- Assist in resolving design conflicts across disciplines.

- Support integration of mechanical designs into overall facility layouts.

Construction & Field Support

- Assist with field verification activities and site visits as required.

- Support responses to Requests for Information (RFIs) under engineer guidance.

- Help update drawings based on field conditions and construction feedback.

- Assist with as-built drawing development and project closeout documentation.

Quality & Standards

- Follow company drafting standards, procedures, and project requirements.

- Perform basic checks of drawings for accuracy and completeness.

- Support continuous improvement in drafting practices and workflows.

- Maintain organized and accurate project files and documentation.

What You'll Bring

Education & Experience

- Associate degree or technical diploma in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred.

- 0–2 years of experience in mechanical drafting or design.

- Internship or co-op experience in EPC, industrial, power generation, or manufacturing environments preferred.

Technical Skills

- Basic understanding of:

- Mechanical drafting principles

- Piping systems and layouts

- HVAC and mechanical systems fundamentals

- Industrial facility layouts • Familiarity with:

- Construction drawings and documentation

- Engineering markups and redline processes • Proficiency with:

- AutoCAD

- Revit

- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) • Experience with Plant 3D, Navisworks, or other 3D modeling tools is a plus.

- Ability to travel occasionally for site visits, field verification, and construction support activities.

- Ability to work in active industrial and construction environments as required.
