Job Title
Software Architecture - Advisor I

About your role:
At Fiserv we build and operate cloud-native platforms and services that enable secure, scalable commerce and payment experiences.

As a Software Architecture - Advisor I, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing software architecture strategies that support Fiserv’s business objectives. Your expertise will ensure the robustness, scalability, and security of our software systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy software architecture solutions that meet the evolving needs of the financial services industry.

What you'll do:

- Design and develop scalable, secure, and maintainable applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Define application and solution architecture for microservices-based, cloud-native systems running on AWS.
- Translate business requirements and complex problems into clear technical designs and implementation approaches.
- Lead technical design discussions and clearly articulate architecture decisions, trade-offs, risks, dependencies, and alternatives.
- Create and maintain architecture diagrams, sequence diagrams, API specifications, technical design documents, and solution blueprints.
- Design and implement REST APIs, event-driven integrations, and distributed services.

Experience you'll need to have:

- 8+ years of software development experience, with significant hands-on experience developing enterprise applications using Java.
- Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot, including building production-grade REST APIs and microservices.
- 1+ year working on applying AI and Generative AI to improve platform capabilities, engineering productivity, operational support, and developer experience.
- Design and implement AI-enabled services and integrations using LLMs, APIs, and cloud-based AI services, while maintaining appropriate security, privacy, reliability, and observability.
- Demonstrated experience designing software solutions and application architectures, not just implementing predefined designs.
- Strong experience with AWS and building cloud-native applications.
- Experience designing and implementing microservices and distributed systems.
- Experience with API design, system integrations, and asynchronous/event-driven architectures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, a related field (or foreign equivalent degree), or equivalent work experience.

Experience that would be great to have:

- Experience building or modernizing payment processing, financial services, fintech, or high-volume transactional platforms.
- Identify opportunities to apply AI and Generative AI to improve platform capabilities, engineering productivity, operational support, and developer experience.
- Design and implement AI-enabled services and integrations using LLMs, APIs, and cloud-based AI services, while maintaining appropriate security, privacy, reliability, and observability.
- Experience with AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS/DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, CloudWatch, and IAM.
- Experience with Kafka or other event-streaming/messaging technologies.
