Qualifications
10+ years in product design. Has led design for large consumer products at scale, with tens or hundreds of millions of users

Understands social mechanics such as sharing, comments, community, creator-audience relationships and network effects
Aligns Product, Engineering, Data Science, Research and Content Partnerships around a shared vision without formal authority. Drives decisions at the director and VP level
Experience leading and growing a team of designers, setting quality standards, and mentoring senior ICs Setting a vision. Can define a 1-3 year north star and sell it through prototypes, storytelling and narrative docs, especially when the project is still ambiguous or in 0→1 territory
Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
Monetization awareness. Can fit ads (mid-rolls, pre-rolls) or subscriptions into the experience without hurting it
Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
Competitive and industry insight. Deep familiarity with YouTube, TikTok, Netflix and streaming patterns, plus a point of view on where to differentiate rather than copy
Designing for recommendation-driven products. Understands how ranking and personalization shape the experience. Can work with ML teams on signals, feedback loops and how viewers browse versus watch passively
Designing across devices. Mobile, web, and ideally TV or the living room, where long form is often watched

Data and experimentation fluency. Comfortable with A/B tests and metrics like watch time, retention and session depth. Uses quantitative and qualitative research together, and can tell real long-term value from short-term engagement wins
Creator and ecosystem thinking. The lead should design for both sides: viewers, and creators' tools, analytics and earnings
Long-form-specific consumption patterns. Knows how long viewing sessions differ from short-form scrolling: committing to a video, resuming, chapters, previews and the move from a feed into full-screen viewing
Integrity, wellbeing and accessibility. Content quality, controls that support healthy viewing, captions, and performance on low-bandwidth connections for global markets
Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
