About this role
BAIN CAPITAL OVERVIEW
With approximately $225 billion of assets under management, Bain Capital is one of the world’s leading private investment firms. We create lasting impact for our investors, teams, businesses, and the communities in which we live. Over four decades we have strategically grown our platform to focus on Private Equity, Growth & Venture, Capital Solutions, Credit & Capital Markets, and Real Assets. Today, our team includes 2,000+ employees in 24 offices on four continents.
We partner differently to help people and companies embrace possibility and realize potential. Founded as a private partnership in 1984, we have fostered a culture of innovation, entrepreneurialism, and agility, empowering our people to define and own their career trajectories. Today, our partnership approach enables us to pursue strategic growth, build enduring relationships with a robust external network, and collaborate across our integrated platform to connect the deep and diverse expertise that unlocks breakthrough insights.
Our people are the heart of our advantage. Colleagues at all levels have a seat at the table as they tackle business challenges with a principal investor mindset. By asking incisive questions, respectfully challenging one another, and remaining intellectually agile, we work together to achieve exceptional outcomes.
About the Team
Global Private Equity Analytics sits at the intersection of Finance, Operations, IT, Investor Relations, and Capital Markets. We build the metrics, tools, and data products that power decision-making across the platform — from Power BI and Excel reporting to enterprise applications built on our central data lake. Everyone on this team, from associate to leadership, takes a hands-on approach to reaching our goal of an ecosystem of dynamic, scalable, explainable solutions.
The Role
We're looking for a Senior Associate to join our data function. This person will be a critical link between raw financial/operational data and the LPs, deal teams, senior leadership, and Investor Relations. You'll spend meaningful time both delivering against existing processes and improving them.
What You'll Do
- LP Data Delivery: Support fundraising and LP engagement by delivering accurate, timely data and analysis in response to investor requests, leveraging existing tools and data infrastructure. This includes bespoke deliverables, held to a high bar for accuracy and turnaround time.
- Process Improvement: Identify repeatable, manual, or error-prone workflows and build tools to fix them — whether that's a better Power BI model, Alteryx workflow, a script, or an application or workflow built with Claude Code — with the goal of faster, more automated analytics.
- Enterprise Tooling: Contribute to enterprise-level applications built with agentic coding tools, working alongside the broader analytics team to extend what our data platform can do.
- Data Quality & Governance: Partner with the Data Governance team to design and maintain an interpretable, well-documented data lake that stakeholders outside our team, including non-technical users, can leverage and trust.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Work directly with Finance, Investor Relations, Capital Markets, IT, Data Governance, and Investment Professionals to understand upstream data and downstream needs.
Who You Are
- A fund accountant, or someone with a similar accounting/finance background, eager to move into data, analytics, and AI-driven work
- 2–6 years of experience
- A genuine hard worker who wants to understand why , not just execute a task — someone who works proactively rather than waiting to be told the next step
- Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to own a problem end-to-end while also willing to acknowledge when they do not know the answer
- Strong attention to detail — in a data function serving LPs, small errors have outsized consequences
- Clear communicator who can explain technical/financial logic to both technical and non-technical audiences
Nice to Have (not required — we prioritize aptitude and work ethic over a specific toolkit)
- Exposure to private equity/alternative assets and/or fund/partnership accounting
- CPA or CFA designation (active, inactive, or progress towards)
- Prior experience in public accounting
- SQL, Python, DAX/Power BI, or other data/BI tooling
- Experience with source-system data connections or enterprise data lakes/warehouses
- Interest in or exposure to AI-assisted/agentic coding workflows
What Success Looks Like
- Within the first few months: fully ramped on some existing LP data request workflows, handling standard requests independently, creating clear leverage for team members currently filling these roles
- Within the first year: has identified and shipped at least one meaningful process improvement or tool, and is a trusted contributor on cross-functional data initiative
Why Join
- Direct exposure across the firm’s BUs, functions, and to senior leadership
- A team culture where everyone, including leadership, works hands-on with data
- Real ownership of tools and processes from day one, not just report execution
