About this role

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable, alert, and professional Overnight Security Officer to maintain a safe and orderly environment during overnight hours. The ideal candidate will have a strong security background, a confident and commanding presence, excellent situational awareness, and the ability to respond appropriately to unexpected situations with minimal supervision.

This position requires someone who can deter unwanted activity through visibility and professionalism, recognize potential risks, de-escalate confrontational situations when possible, document incidents accurately, and contact the appropriate authorities when necessary.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 2 years of security experience.
- Strong observation, situational awareness, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive during stressful or confrontational situations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare clear, accurate incident reports and maintain daily activity logs.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and sound judgment when working independently overnight.
- Ability to follow established security protocols, emergency procedures, and escalation guidelines.
- Ability to meet applicable licensing, registration, and background-screening requirements for the position.

Physical and Functional Requirements

Candidates must be physically capable of performing the essential duties of an overnight security position, including:

- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Conducting routine patrols and remaining alert throughout overnight shifts.
- Safely lifting, carrying, or moving objects as required by the position.
- Maintaining a confident, professional physical presence.
- Responding appropriately to safety concerns, disturbances, and emergencies within the scope of an unarmed security role.

Core Responsibilities

- Monitor the property and help deter unauthorized access, disturbances, and suspicious activity.
- Conduct routine patrols and observe entrances, common areas, and other designated locations.
- Identify potential safety and security risks and take appropriate action.
- De-escalate conflicts when safe and appropriate, while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Document incidents, unusual activity, security concerns, and relevant observations in detailed written reports.
- Notify management, emergency services, law enforcement, or other appropriate parties when circumstances warrant.
- Follow established emergency response procedures and communicate relevant information during incidents.
- Maintain a visible security presence and provide professional interactions with residents, guests, employees, and visitors.
- Exercise sound independent judgment while recognizing when a situation requires additional assistance.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The strongest candidate will be composed, observant, confident, physically capable, and comfortable taking responsibility for a property during overnight hours. Experience in residential, commercial, hospitality, or other security environments is desirable.

We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate a commanding professional presence, strong interpersonal awareness, and the ability to recognize when to intervene, when to de-escalate, and when to contact the appropriate authorities.

Recruitment Priority: Reliability, judgment, situational awareness, professional presence, and the ability to work independently are essential. We are looking for a security professional who can deter problems, recognize developing situations, and respond appropriately—not simply someone who can fill an overnight shift.

Schedule: Saturday–Sunday: 11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
